Problem with Staycation Tax Credit entry
I use the Turbo Tax Download software.
Everything was excellent, as is normally the case for Turbo Tax, EXCEPT FOR the entry screen for the Ontario Staycation Tax Credit. The screen has 7 lines for entering stays for the credit. I needed 10 to enter enough stays to reach the $2,000 maximum. There was no ability to add additional lines. Does Turbo Tax think that no one could possibly have more than 7 separate stays? This problem should have been caught during testing of the software changes for the Staycation Tax Credit. Tech support could not help me to get additional lines as it was a software issue, NOT a user issue. I chose to group a couple of stays together in order to enter the amount to achieve the $2,000 maximum, but stays are supposed to be entered separately with each stay's details.

Please fix the Climate Action Incentive response
Great program for a student account, keeping track of my tuition costs and deductions for me. I appreciate that. Your profile questions here ask student or not -- I am not but I am using those parts of your program. Plus -- When I tried to respond to the Climate Action Incentive question about living in a rural area, there was nothing but an empty box. Presumably putting a checkmark in the box means a "yes" but putting nothing in the box makes the program ask you to answer the question again at Review. That's a waste of time. Please put a yes and a no box there. Thanks.

Easy to Use, diffecult to print without watermark
Turbotax is easy to use following the guidline on screen. If needed, you can switch to form screen quickly. Value for the time and money. But if you need to print out the document so you can see what you've entered or sent, The watermark was boldly printed over entries in many places. Trying to change this the standard MS way was not effective. Using Chatbot, or Communiry help was frustrating with no positive result. Finally going to an live agent, I was directed to print for mail which still printed watermark. There was no simple guide to drop watermark.
My only problem, but a confounding one to say the least.

OK purchase
I wish you would fix how Releve2s are recorded. The program lumps several releve2s automatically under one column making it difficult to revue. I have to override the automatic entries so I can revue it conveniently. It is quite annoying.

Its good
It's relatively simple to use. I would however prefer if when printing off a hard copy that it didn't include all the additional schedules. Would much prefer just a simply summary that tells one either how much they owe or how much of a refund they get back.

Excellent Tax Prep. Product
I have used this product for years. There were a few exceptions on my return this year that I had to revert to forms and sadly 'easy mode' did not understand... but with that said, for everything else it was a breeze and for the price: good value.

Needs Tweeking
It can be a challenge to change data transferred from previous year's return. Program says transferred info can be changed later in interview but interview did not allow change. Had to struggle with how, go into forms, using help, very frustrating.

Turbotax is a good tax product, easy to use and follow. It guides you through many scenarios and helps you get the best possible return.The only thing I would like to see is the $ limit for over and under increased. There hasn't been any change since I started using this product 10 years ago, and yet the minimum wage has changed significantly.

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and was rather disappointed with this years program. It seems to me you are trying to be an online accounting service rather than focusing on the software. I found it frequently would just close down. I have a new Windows 11 computer and it did not run cleanly on it.

Optimizing

Great product
The only thing I find confusing is the warnings at the end. It comes up with marital status and name change warnings as well as others that shouldnt be there based on the earlier questions. It makes you second guess yourself and go back and waste time. Otherwise I am very happy with the product.

Ok but Problems
Easy to use but still find the optimizer confusing since often the maximum deduction/sharing is unused but using the sliding scale and vision, using less of either makes no difference in your tax value (eg refund for us). Also, no help given and extremely difficult to get help e.g.in case of HST number not accepted on Staycation ON 479 form; answer, eliminate all letters and only use 9 digits (numbers) of total number issued by company

good
i had issues with the program this year. it wouldnt accept a entry. i called support to talk to someone and they didnt know what was wrong so they hung up on me. I called support a second time and this person was much more helpful...however she didnt know how to fix the issue and told me to call Canada Revenue. Canada revenue laughed at me because its not their program ..how would they know whats wrong with the program. the second girl also said if i figure out the issue to call back and tell what i did to fix it...so i call turbo tax back and they had no interest in what i was saying...was frustrated with the program and very frustrated with the people with the support

Taxes should be Simple
Over time it seems the program has become cumbersome and triggers questions queries of the return which are not applicable to my situation which creates confusion and a lot of chasing around for information.
The print function on the return either prints a return which does not have all of the necessary back-up for the return, or you have to select all of the forms for printing.

Good DIY program, better than others I've tried
This is a good do-it-yourself program, better than others I've tried. If you have a basic understanding of finances and taxes, this program can guide you through. Also, there are help topics to explain areas that you may need more understanding. Many other people I know use this program so if you get stuck you can go online for help or maybe phone a friend.

Some Minor Issues
All-in-all, I am quite satisfied. Works as expected. Some of the flow could be tightened - it sometimes revisits a question just after it has been answered - but that is very minor. What I do have some issue with is the Quebec version (which I used for the first time this year). Some of the prompting is very unclear - example, the screen with the two choices "Applies to me" and "Does not apply to me" has a question that makes the choice very confusing. Suggestion - get an English expert to rephrase the questions so that simple Yes or No buttons are sufficient. And review the Quebec data entry for pension income transfer between spouses - the pro-rating when one spouse has dies simply does not work - and could be calculated since the spouse date of death is entered in the profile.
