Good product overall but had return counter issues
Have used this product for decades now. Overall good product, good value and easy to use and all most people need. However this year I had issues with the product saying I had used up all 8 returns when I had only filed 3 and after an hour and 40 minutes on hold finally got through to the call center and then after 2 and a half hours the end result was they couldn't do anything for me (they could see that somebody else had downloaded the program with the same license number as mine and used 5 returns on some other computer which is why I didn't have the 8 returns I should have!) and I was forced to buy 2 more returns on line to be able to file my and my wives returns (the three I was able to get through were my parents and father in law) and these two extra returns cost more than the program that comes with 8 costs! And there was apparently nothing that TurboTax could do to give me more returns or provide me with a new license number or just download to me the extra returns I needed and should have had. Very disappointed and frustrated by the customer service both in terms of time it takes to get through and the end result (not getting the issue resolved and forcing me to buy more licenses I should not have had to). Too bad because I have used this for a long time and usually left good reviews but frustrating and disappointing is the taste left in my mouth this year unfortunately.

Value for your money
Really like the auto-check for errors and tips. It would be great to have some features which would advice what are the receipts that we need to save, and so on.

Permanent Resident SSI Payments
Tanishi Kiya, hello how are you?
My concern is the lack of information and accessibilty to help guides surrounding a permanent resident (PRC) and Social Security payments issued by the United States. It is also confusing and quite simply mind boggling trying to wade through documents on the CRA website to locate answers.
Please consider opening up a real-time help for users of your software.

Investment Income Features
I like most of the features of TurboTax. However, I find functions of reporting investment income need improvement. Specifically, joint investment income between spouses lacks key summary information totals to make confirmation of recordings between spouses easier; the T5008 slip entry screen needs to highlight the need to specify investment income or capital gains, otherwise it does not carry through the rest of the worksheets, or indicate the error. Also, when downloading slips from the CRA account, the cost of the unit sale should also download.

Turbo Tax Works Great For Us
Hey, I am well over 70 but still insist on filing the taxes for my wife and I.
If Turbo Tax can continue to make it possible for me to do it, I suggest you give it a try yourself.
Now mind you, for the majority of older people tax filing tends to get easier as we age, but I wish I had made the attempt to file on my own earlier in life, and then rode the curve as Turbo Tax steadily improved.

Everything about Turbo tax is good except when you get to the end and you can't file by Netfile and want to mail it, when you click on the print and mail, you don't get all your taxes papers.

Issue with Printing Return
When trying to print my return, Turbotax printed my wife's return, and instead of printing double sided as it was programmed to do, it printed my return all on one side. If you plan to print your return for your records, it would be appropriate to be able to print each individual form that you wish to print.

Turbo tax review
Its a good product; potential improvements:
- Average tax rate on the graphical summery is not correct when one has income split. Please fix it.
- Help page is not that helpful. It could be made more simple and user friendly
- window size of the T slips panel cannot be adjusted. Would be nice if this could be adjusted so one can have two windows, one with their Turbo tax T slips page and the other with the T slips.
- Would be nice if one can close unused form while working on the tax form. It gives that option when you are printing the form.

too unfriendly
Same problem year after year -when a business is shared with a spouse, we should be able to enter the complete information on one persons Return, and have whatever percent we identify, transferred to the other spouse's return. It is ridiculous to have to divide the figures and enter them twice, comparing to ensure all is correct! You could easily do that for us!
The Review should be specific to each person, not inapplicable generic questions.

A downgrade from last year
This year seemed clunkier - pop up windows that seemed to come from from windows 3.1, and very aggressive pushing of extra Intuit services, again and again.

Best Product Out There
If you're not a tax accountant, then this product allows you to do your own taxes.
The Help section doesn't answer all the questions, but CRA or a web search will.
Fairly easy to use and I have used it for over 10 years.

Continuity
I have used Turbo Tax and before it Quick Tax for many years and find it very convenient that a lot of the information from the previous year is carried forward. It makes me think about my affairs without have to do and check all the math.

When printing tax returns using taxprep the form designating the principal residence always prints even you tell taxprep you didn't sell your residence. It's quite annoying. Do you have anyway to turn off printing this form.

Cumbersome, but usable
Still usable, still buggy in certain spots - so not entirely trustworthy. Always double-check against manual (or spreadsheet) pro forma. Navigation could use A LOT of improvement.

Upgrades to detail
I suggest Turbo Tax include some of the details / access to the CRA guides. specifically T1135 for what is deemed as Foreign holdings and on the T5013 forms there is no entry box for Box 134 (Dividend Tax Credit) or is it included in Box 135 (Dividend) and then calculated within the program? Not sure but took some time to clarify.

I like the automation provided, but sometimes it's hard to identify which selection I might want tot make because the help resource associated with the topic isn't terribly specific or giving me the information that helps me relate it to my specific set of circumstances.

Better version last year
We have used Turbo Tax Standard for some years now. This year's version was more difficult to navigate. It was unclear where to put certain T slip information, whereas in previous years, the program asked for all T slips by number and it was clear where to enter the information. Would prefer warnings about real issues rather than repeated warnings about things I have indicated are NOT issues for us.(If I indicate once that we have not sold our main residence, this should not be flagged again.)
