SK Reno look out
The product is as good as always. I've used it for many years now. I was very frustrated with the SK Reno part. It was not clear at all as to how to split the total if you wanted to (combined return). Spent a couple hrs on it finally calling Turbo Tax. The two of us finally muddled through it and got it figured out. Hope they make it clearer next year.

Great code, programmers!
I've used Turbo Tax for at least 10 years, to do family taxes; some years, as many as eight returns.
Each year I find a subtle change, that has been made to simplify the process.
I would have given the software a "5 Star" rating, if it had a function to remove unused forms. The US Edition already has this function!

Cannot Split Charitable Donations Between Spouses
i had to do separate TT tax files for myself and my spouse this year to get the full tax benefit of the combined charitable donations receipts carried forward from last year and new ones for this year ... very annoying (i've always done a joint TT return process)

Works Well
This is the 4th or 5th year I have used Turbo Tax. Has always worked well for us and is relatively simple to use. Much better than some of the online "free" options that I have tried. Really bad!

Streamlined, except where it isn't!
Easy to use, but failed to prompt entry of necessary information on Form T2125 for self-employment income, that were then later flagged as errors, that were fixable, but led to unnecessary circles back to earlier stages, and even more repeats of the ever annoying review, tax-saving tips and the like.

Trouble
Netfile was rejected by CRA - Reason was there were Errors but YOU did not know where. No Phone Number for TurboTax was given for help to find what CRA did not like.
Got lucky and discovered the little secret code number on the NOA was the problem

Does the Math
I really liked TurboTax because it does all the addition, subtraction and addition for the various amounts to report as income and deductions and such. I was a little disappointed that this Standard edition didn't give me the help I needed with donations -- how to split them and/or carry some forward for the greatest tax advantage. Perhaps someone at TT could come up with a real 'optimizer'. It kept telling me there was one -- but when I got to it, the only information was what I had provided. When I dickered around with the carry forward numbers, I was able to find out how much to carry forward -- but I think the programme used to do that for me. It talked about 'optimizer' plenty, but there was no evidence of any such optimizer when using it!

Makes Life & Taxes Come Together!
Using Turbo Tax is simple to follow & to understand. However, you still need to be organize before starting your taxes (saves time). The good news it that it asks all the right questions and answering those questions correctly ensures that nothing is forgotten.

Good product
I have two suggestions for improvement. I had some difficulty using the browse function to locate last year's return to transfer my personal information. It took a while to determine the complete file name. After entering my T5 information, the program asked to enter investment information. Users must be careful not to duplicate data previously entered.

Turbo turbulence
Relatively easy to use, except it does not go where you last worked on, and so it is confusing. I started all over again, until I realized that I can find my place in the left hand menu. Entering deductions is a pain, it could be made easier by not having to type the name of the taxpayer every time. Same for charitable deductions. Filing you taxes is a pain, and Turbo does make it a bit easier, but not easy enough for me. Graphics are not appealing to me, ease of use would score higher. Overall rating 7 out of 10.

Longtime happy user
I have been using QT TT for 18 years. The cost for Standard is very reasonable, given the headaches it saves me from suffering like I used to deal with when I used paper. It is particularly helpful when filing for my wife and I, and split my pension income with her. I am surprised that the warnings and reviews keep popping up even though I have answered the questions.

suggestion
It would be so much more efficient if there was a way to copy information for the medical expenses. At present each one has to be inputted on each entry in the worksheet. e.g. - name of dependent, name of pharmacy, etc.
