It's Turbo Tax, Duh
I mean, does anybody not know about Turbo Tax? It helps you do taxes. It's worth the money. Don't go to H&R Block, those people are morons. One time I went and sat on their side of the desk to help the "Tax Professional" figure out how to use their own in-house tax software that was not any better than Turbo Tax, what was I paying them for??

Sometimes Confusing
In general I like the software. However, I was not able to print the confirmation of filing. Upon filing I was given three options - print return, print confirmation # & continue. Assuming that I could do both print options I printed the return first and then could not get back to print confirmation.

I did a joint return and there were child care expenses of $24000. The system accepted that deduction and calculated the refund as a result. A few months later when CRA finally processed the return they reduced the claim to the max allowed amount of $8000. The software did not take that max into consideration, a big surprise to me. Please correct next issue.

Not as good as it should be
It REALLY bothers me that there is no way to email the company to ask a question. I shouldn't have to use FaceBook to contact a company. It also bugs me that it asks questions that I can't answer. Specifically, when it asks about signing up for CRA electronic mail, there is no option for "I'm already signed up." If I say "no thanks" are you going to cancel it for me?
It also drives me nuts every year when it asks how long I've been using TurboTax and the maximum choice listed is less than I have been using it. That is just stupid.

First Time User
I didn't do my taxes until years later so it was an older version from what is available now. Best not to procrastinate but it was very helpful, I found, as I got closer to the end. It had some things I didn't quite get but the website really answered questions and lead me to an optimal refund. The program wants the best for you.

it's ok-did the job
I used to use UFILE and it was easier to use. You could go back and find things much more easily. UFILE stopped working on us so we switched to Turbotax and it was not was user friendly. However, it did ask you more questions than Ufile did.

Patronizing Tax Software
Turbo Tax's biggest problem is that they are in bed with Microsoft and do not provide their software for other operating systems eg. MacOS. It appears that they are a shill for Microsoft, forcing computer owners to constantly upgrade their computers to Microsoft's latest expensive Operating System. Shameful!

Quite Good
Very good Program. Accurate calculations. Found some challenges in accessing input boxes and accessing help for some topics. e.g how to access entry of split income amount. Did not even know the optimizer existed until I shut down the returns and the suggestion to use it came up came up under Tips as I shut down. Otherwise, I might still be trying to figure it out.

2018 TurboTax review
Wasn't presented with a T4A(P) option, so I tried to use the T4A form, which didn't match CRA's version. Confusing.
Some confusion over self-employment income, as there was none, but the review insisted there was, so it objected to no business code and wrong or no fiscal year end. ??

T5008 Entry was Tedious
I had 90 entries on my T5008 form and had to select "Capital Gains" 90 times. I couldn't see a way of selecting that choice for all of them at one time.

I've been using the standalone TurboTax version for years (ie. not an online version) but I'm disappointed Windows7 compatible versions will be discontinued. TurboTax is a good option for those who don't have complicated tax requirements. Recommended.

I think the RRSP portion of the tax return should be easier to understand. I have RRSP's in my name and in my husbands name but I need him to claim it all as I do not work. I have problems figuring it out every year and I always think I am doing wrong.

This product can be used either in a questionnaire format for those without knowledge of tax forms or by those familiar with the forms/process. The software supports the option to use both methods and smoothely transition to direct submission to CRA.

maybe a small bug

Standard version lets you efile for family members
I used the Standard Version to prepare 2019 tax returns for myself, my wife, and my elderly parents. The Standard Version can efile up to eight returns. It was smart enough to recognize that we were two couples. My parents had a lot of life changes this year -- they sold their home, moved to a retirement residence, and had significant medical expenses. TurboTax handled everything just fine, but I found I had to use the forms directly.

Gets the job done
I have been using TurboTax US and Canada for more than 20 years. It gets the job done. Sometimes the step by step method confuses things, but most of the time it is helpful. I expect to continue to use TurboTax again for 2020.

Works ok, some irritating issues
I have used the software in its various incarnations for over 20 years. It gets the job done. There are some irritations in the software that continue to persist year after year.
The software prompts to save my return even when no changes have been made. Even when I have just saved the return I get prompted to save again.
Some of the warnings and tips keep reappearing even though I have said that they don't apply. It would be really nice if these could be suppressed. The fact that they keep reappearing makes me wonder if something is wrong.

Good app but poor tech support
After completing some returns successfully, on attempting to save a pdf (for filing) of a new return, received a pop-up "tt2019 Library not registered" (truly an uninformative message) and the following window showed the pdf printing but never completing. Had to kill TT.
Attempt to start TT after reinstall from CD failed with error "Internal error TT600". (I had previously twice attempted to speak to Tech Support but after finally getting the bot to transfer me the call was ended.) Finally downloaded CD version of TT from web site, removed installed TT and installed the download. It worked. Your resistance to hearing from any user with a serious software problem is not acceptable!

confusing
This year's Turbo Tax was not as easy to use in the sense that when I was working on combined spousal taxes it would ask questions but I could not always see who the questions applied to in the easy step and it was confusing.
