Very good product - especially for 95% of filers
Excellent product overall. And for most filers it would be perfect.
One thing they need to fix though is to allow T4A income (from self-employed commissions, etc) to be allocated to more than one T2125 (professional income, commission income or business income). If you have more than one business or partnership, etc that different T4A's apply to TurboTax will automatically put all Box 20 income from all T4A's for example onto one T2125 for Commission Income and not allow you to separate it out unless you override the calculated entry and then you can't Netfile because it flags it as an overwritten cell. This needs to be fixed so when we enter T4A's we are able to select which T2125's we want them allocated to. This should be a simple fix and would help out a great deal and make the product a lot better for those of us who have this issue.

Made my tax prep quick and painless
I changed my investment strategy last year and made more use of TFSA's and non-registered accounts. As a result I had a great deal more paper to process. Imaging my relief when I learned that Turbo Tax could download all my tax slips directly from the CRA website. What a time savings!

Turbo Tax 2019 Easy Step
An improvement I'd like to see is for TT to keep track of what you've already completed or reviewed. When I jump back a few steps to add something, it takes me through all the subsequent steps again even though I've already answered the questions.

Text size adjustable on forms but not on T-slips entry boxes. VERY difficult to see text. Needed a magnifying glass.
Can you make a 1-click Optimizer that would do all 3 at once. Difficult to do-redo so many times.

Does the job
A little overpriced for what it does, but not bad. Navigation is fairly easy, but could be streamlined during the review process. Also should not prompt to change items that are calculated fields without taking the user to the actual area of the form to provide context.

Satisfied
I like how easy Turbo Tax is to use. It guides you every step of the way using terminology that is easy to understand.
I was disappointed that I am being forced to buy Microsoft 10 in order to be able to file in 2020.

Very good program
The best feature is the the auto fill the previous returns from past years. I found it impossible to find the 'Industry codes" for self employed people. However for the most part easy to use and I would recommend to anyone and will use again myself.

Print Issue
I was able to print on both sides of the paper for my 2018 return but was not given this option this year. Wasted a lot of paper printing my PDF copy.

Does what I wanted it to do

Great tax software
Intuit TurboTax standard is a great software to use for tax preparation. Very user friendly and it will guide you through all the necessary steps of completing your tax returns. Having the ability to complete my wife and my own returns at the same time is a great feature.

Useful but buggy
I buy TurboTax every year because I'm used to it and I can easily compare with what I did for the previous year.
There are a few annoying things that I'm used to and can deal with. But this year I really lost a lot of time with the receipts import feature. It asked me to log in to the CRA site, but the CRA asked to change security questions. It took too much time to do that and TurboTax timed out and just reported the error without offering any option to retry. I ended up in the import screen for my spouse when I finally retried, so it did not work. I had to go back and do it again. Then I had two entries of each item, one was blank. I had to delete these blank entries.
Then when I tried to import Quebec receipts it said they were already imported. I ended up verifying the info that was imported and manually entered the rest. Huge lost of time.

Need more warnings
Data entry is mostly seamless, thanks to the ability to download T-slips from CRA. However, there should be warnings that some things need manual entry e.g. capital gains , or need adjustment to the default, e.g. RRSP deduction.
Also, data gathering and calculation for the T1135 is painful- is there a way of streamlining this?

Useful Product
For the most part the program is useful and helps one navigate through the different stages of tax filing. In submitting the "final" tax notice for another person (deceased) the program gave instructions about how to rename the file "the estate of" but then the program would not accept the name change, and using netfile was impossible. So this needs to be revisited for 2020 to correct the instructions for filing for a deceased person.

Good Purchase

Monitor Issues
My main monitor is 1920x1200 and configured for portrait mode. An initial splash screen asking about being deceased was unusable because of my computers configuration.

Old school forms

Decent Program, straightforward
Turbotax is quite simple to use even if you don't know any of the tax rules. the Easy Step guides you through all the types of income and deductions you might have. If you are a bit more tax savy, the Easy Step can be frustrating as there are a lot of questions. In that case, you can flip to the Forms view and just do your own entry on the various forms directly.
I have been using this software for many years and keep coming back. The roll forward of data year over year is convenient.
The one frustration I have found is that some of the questions and "Smart Tips" are not based on the data already input. i.e. asking a senior who is over 80 years old if they want to maximize their RRSP contributions, when clearly they are no longer allowed to have funds in an RRSP.
Overall, a good product.

Over 10 years of use
Generally love turbo tax however this year had some rental income and received errors that I could not resolve. When you click FIX, it would not show me where the error was and was acting strangely. It made me go crazy and I could not find the error! Had to call for support and a fellow Kevin helped me out - He was Fantastic!
All fixed up now and netfiled so very happy!

Troubling "you return has changed" popup
I've been using TurboTax/QuickTax for over 20 years. One troubling and annoying quirk: after saving and NETFILEing, there is always a pop-up saying "your return has changed, do you want to save". Huh? I just saved it prior to NETFILE, I did not change anything. Why are you asking me to save? I always find this unsettling and leaves a bad taste for an anotherwise fine product. Please fix this. I will be watching next year :)

Good for basic returns
Both my wife and I use Turbo Tax, for my basic return it is wonderful and easy to use. My wife has overseas inheritances/investments and the program needs more blank space to fill in the information required.
