Worthwhile
If you have to file income tax forms, this is a very worthwhile purchase. Every year so far, in my experience, the forms are much the same as in previous years. Experience acquired can therefore be used in next year's forms.

one suggestion ...either do an autosave or warn to save before doing anything that goes to the web for something...if you have web issues of some sort turbotax will or might hang causing you to reload and lose what youve done so far..

Took longer than expected
I found myself confused on a few points with the desktop version compared to last years online version. I prefer the online but I like the price of the desktop better haha. All in all a great product and a neat system. I think I would like it better if I was able to change the format to a more dominant black with white writing for my eyes though.

Seems to have a few problems when there is only one parent - was missing a spot to add a dependent's (child) income, had to find that within the forms. Also in one spot, there was no continue button or spot to pick the only parent. Had to select the next step in the navigation pane.

Suggest Improvement
Need to improve interface for downloading CRA info for spouse, Not intuitive that you need to skip step to get form for downloading spouses CRA data after yours has been done!

Easy enough
I have to do a couple of returns, it works great if you don't have a lot of different information to put in. The more complicated your income, the harder it is to use (expected)!

Needs Mac Version

Easier to use than Ufile
Had issues with Ufile when previous year file was locked up by unexpected password.
Lack of relevant assistance by Ufile made me switch to TurboTax. Happy with switch and TurboTax since then.

Used bought 'CD' only to find at the end I had to uninstall tt19 then install from web page.
would have been easier to 'fix' the CD application guys, wasted so much time!

Little Buggy This Year
I have used Turbo Tax for more than 10 years. So easy to use, and it makes no mistakes. Makes doing tax a pleasure, except for making a payment to the CRA.
This year the software was a little buggy. When I installed it on my Windows 10 computer and tried to update it, it would not update. I had to uninstall and download a file from the Turbo Tax website and reinstall. First time this ever happened, not a great deal. Also found this year some hesitation in the software. Click something and I would have to wait a couple of beats before any thing happened. Again, unusual. Hopefully TT will get their act together before next year. Will defintely use Turbo Tax again next year.

works fine for most
took me twice to figure out you can't just run through the continue buttons, but have to pick the button that says something like "finish my return file federal return with CRA". the program used to just run through to netfile, do not know why they changed this.

Could use some improvement
How often should you ask me if I want auto fill. The answer is once. Medical expense optimizer in review should have a button to get me to it. Registering this year was a pain. Tried several times before it took. The Ontario property tax and rent credit asks in review to put the amount of property tax paid. If you are claiming rent then why the property tax question? Turbo tax is a great software. Making these changes would make it even better.

Useful Tax Filing Software
This is the second time I have used TurboTax to file my income tax return. I find it relatively easy to use, the interview type questions to fill out the forms are generally easy to answer. I would use it again and I would recommend to friends. To improve the product further, I would suggest that making it available for a Mac user would make sense. I found it very odd being back on a PC for the first time in many years. In fact, this led to my first attempt being completely deleted right at the end of the process. It was my fault but perhaps having an auto save feature would save this frustration from happening again. Also, in the final part of the interview questioning, when inquiring about my dependents, all of the questions were written in the negative and had to be answered with 'Yes'. i.e. did not spend time in prison last year (yes/no). Might consider the wording to avoid confusion. Aside from that, I felt this was a very useful tool that helped me to navigate the Canadian Tax System.

A good purchase
I usually love Turbotax, however, I found it a little difficult this year. I am an Accountant and can be a bit demanding. I found areas where numbers didn't add and it froze up a few times. Considering the cost, a good purchase.

Handy, but not perfect.
I have used TurboTax from before its name change, so I clearly like it. However, for several years the "Principal Residence Designation Worksheet" was included in my tax return. No, I did not sell my house, and I checked No in the box provided in the profile section, and so did my spouse. So why is the form included in the printout of our netfile, with a handful of No boxes checked off and nothing else? And I assume this unneccessary form was also netfiled for both of us. Why?

Average tax rate is incorrect
Help is not that useful. It would be nice to have detailed explanation for the specific fields on the form. Help provided general information for the form.
Another major error is the average tax rate when pension income is split. Split incoem is added to the Total income for the spouse receiving the split pension; but not deducted from the spouse transferring the split. Not only the average rate is incorrect; but, the combined income for both spouse is incorrect. Hope this is fixed in the next yer version.

Was okay
I have used even before was renamed Turbo Tax. This year the start-up didn't recognize me. Even though I have used it like forever! Previously it would have all that name identification stuff there, entered, just for review. Even when I was finishing up, TurboT told me it had no previous info on me!! Go figure.
I didn't find this years version as helpful as in the past: especially when working in the T3 area. When I had to go to the extra boxes page there was no help for the Code box! It was mostly little things that meant I took twice as long to complete my filing this year.
But it gone now. I guess that was the important part. Thx.

Can't Import Prior TurboTax Online Version Data
I happily used TurboTax Standard (Download App) before, but trusted TurboTax's clunky Online (Web) version last year.
Now TurboTax says that their Box or Download versions can't import my last year's TT Online's data into this year's TT Standard Edition! They actually admit it! DO NOT EVER switch to the Online product -- it's ugly and you can't switch back next year to the Download or Box versions without starting over liker a new customer.
