Mostly easy, with one exception
For the most part this is a very easy program to use. But the medical information page should have a better way of entering the total amounts for the year, not one by one entries of a lot of prescriptions, etc. Could not find a description of how to enter one total without having to use a different computer to ask the question. Otherwise it was a good program.

Good value product
My tax returns are fairly simple so this product represents good value for me... on a PC. Easy Step simplifies the process and is mostly intuitive for flipping back & forth between steps, or between Easy Step and Forms. Never had a problem.
However...I have recently switched to an Apple PC and was shocked to find there is no native downloadable product for Mac systems. I absolutely do not want to use the Online version. So unless this lapse is corrected, I will regrettably be looking for another product next year.

good software, help screens could be improved
Have used software for many years. Answers to questions sometimes hard to find (eg CCA class for laptop computer). CRA worksheets to support certain amounts in T1 are not all included in the forms list.
To use the software effectively requires a basic understanding of tax rules.

Works OK - but one flaw this year
I have been using this software for many years and am generally happy with it. However, this year there was a flaw in using the optimizer for medical expenses, which incorrectly allocated those expenses to my wife (the lower wage earner), resulting in a lower total refund for us. I had to over-ride the optimizer to maximize the total refund amount. This had never happened before.

Better than other tax software
I found Turbo Tax easy to use. Very straightforward. Large fonts helped me a lot in navigating the steps. Also, linking the My Account in CRA to upload my T4 RRSP and others is very neat.

Seductively Loveable
Have used since first versions. After a few years of treading water/slipping it has once again resumed it's impressive evolution forward. It is 100% more accurate than anything I could do on my own. There is room to grow in the "reasons why you owe" area. If too few taxes were withheld at source, CRA should partner with automated links to help get the ball rolling to resolve for next year. The in product infomercials can be annoying. But the autofill feature from last year and CRA? OMG. Once enjoyed you can never go back.

Years of Satisfaction
I have used TurboTax and it's predecessor for more years than I can remember - probably 20 years at least. I have always found it easy to use and the step by step approach makes it hard to go wrong if you read and follow the instructions carefully.

Almost Perfect
I find the Help section almost impossible to use. eg. This year I needed to find more information about Albertas rural classification to increase a payment. Could not find it at all. Ended up Googling it.

2019 hard to navigate

Easy for the experts
Not easy for me being a senior for a good decade to use the program. Companies or accountants are now charging so much so it is cheaper to purchase the program; but you need patience and read twice to make sure you understand. Not easy to go back and try to correct...

Child Care Expenses
I had great difficulty to get my child care expenses reflected in my tax return since my child's mother was the one that claimed the dependent tax credit. The table is behind the scene and I needed my friend who is an accountant to figure this one out. Other then that glitch, Turbo tax is easy and friendly to use.

T1135 does not have enough lines
In the standard version that is downloaded, there are not enough lines for the t1135. I had 5 countries as sources of foreign income and there were only 3 lines available in the Part B (detail section). I had to use this section as I had more than $250K of costs. I called Turbo tax and they indicated this was fixed in online version. It needs to be fixed in download version as well. Hopefully corrected in 2020 version.

T4A 'Edit'
We are asked to review the T4A info page and 'edit'. I saw two boxes, perfectly fine, and nothing to 'edit'. What I didn't see were there were more boxes behind the scenes if you click on 'edit' where one edits by putting in Taxes Paid already. I wasted time looking for the page in which to import my tax info and couldn't find the page, while all along it was there under the T4A 'Edit'. I consider this a major glitch in the 2019 TurboTax CD.

Optimizers need Improvement
The Optimizers need improving - especially in the area of $ to be sent to CRA to achieve the minimum tax payment. If I selected total tax of $310, We would only have to pay CRA $ 462, before receiving $ 151 on my a/c. However if we sent CRA over $ 1,700, we could achieve a lower tax total of $ 287. We selected the $ 310 option.
