Turbo 20i8 ok
I am retired and have used Turbo Tax or its predecessor Quick Tax for many years and for the most part find it is helpful and easy to follow. Moving back and forth from the forms and Easy Step is generally OK. What I don't like about this years version some of the explanations on Easy Step method. E.g. medical expenses boxes where you write in the total amount and the last line requires an amount less reimbursement. It was confusing as to whether you put in the reimbursement amount here or the net amount after reimbursement. In another area the Split Pension optimizer was difficult to use and I could not easily get the optimizers chart with the different savings. Finally with deductions such as medical and donations the guide says usually the lower earner should claim. I tried it both ways and as with other years the net refund was always higher when the higher earner claimed the deductions. I cannot sat for sure if I will use Turbo Tax next year or have my taxes prepared by a tax professional.

Good product but software error
Form T1-KFS has a line # error.
Under ON428 - Line # 58796 is incorrect. This should be Line # 58769 - as per Form ON428.

small fixes needed
In the netfile information the date of April 1st is still listed as the payment deadline for the 2019 tax year. A statement also says that CRA will not issue checks (must use direct deposit) after 2016. Can't be correct.,

The program is good and does its job, but, for Quebec taxpayers the fact of having two sets of slips usually leads to confusion as to whether a slip should be fed or provincial and some times this leads to the same amount being entered twice. A fix is required.

Fraught Return
Suffered a compromised CD which wouldn't load: getting a fix, after a great deal of difficulty in getting through for actual help from Turbotax ended up being a three hour process on screen. Previous returns, 2014 on, had gone through faultlessly: this one following the fix still had a tendency to wipe itself clean when trying to save requiring to reload, but finally went through ok. Hope not to have these problems next year!

Quebec returns an Issue
All features and aspects of the program are great with one exception. Again this year if you are preparing a Quebec return that has a mailing address outside of Que. it will not allow you to net file the return. This has been an issue for several years and needs to be fixed.

good , but
Overall the program works quite well but the past versions had a much more friendly help function. I couldn't make it work to help me find out if HST could be included in an investment mgt fee carrying charge or if fees on a TFSA could be claimed.. I had to phone my broker.

Better Definitions
Easy product to use with a very nice layout. However, when I would click for definitions of terms or benefits I didn't know, many times the help was not very useful for someone not very experienced with tax information and would have to just search on google. Better descriptions with maybe a quick example would be nice and allow me to better understand.
Also, if clicking on a term to find out the definition, by clicking on the word/link, the program would also check the box next to it. I almost submitted the wrong information and checked something off that didn't apply because I wanted to know what a term meant. This seems like something that should not happen. If I click on a term just to find the definition, the program should not also check off the associated box.

Bit of a Nag
I've used this software for many years. It gets easier and easier, but I have one issue. A question, once answered, should not be asked again. Split Pension? Yes please. Done. Optimize charitable donations? Yes please. Done. Please stop nagging.

NNot bad!
This program gets better each year, however there is one section which leaves me VERY uneasy. My wife and I jointly own our only residence, in Manitoba, where school tax rebates apply The section in which we report ownership, taxes and shared residences definitely requires clarification, and has for some years. Otherwise, well done!

Problems with deceased persons
The T3 - trust income tax and information return is missing. This should not be optional for a deceased person. Also remember the $2500 death benefit needs to go to the T3 trust not the T1. CRA makes a big deal in the T4011 information package about how to do things, but the software does not do things automatically. This really was not clear until much later.

Cd defective - otherwise worked well
When installed from the purchased CD, Turbotax would not run properly. It would switch to the 2018 program. Had to uninstall and download online version. When uninstalling 2019 it also uninstalled 2018! Once installed from online download Turbotax worked perfectly. Lesson learned - throw away the CD and only use the downloaded program.

A bit confusing to use, but better than previous years.
Especially net filing. I missed printing confirmation number because it was the last option, and I could not get back to it. Therefore I do not have a receipt that shows the return was filed even though it looked like it was filed. Very confusing!!

Easy as can be.
This software is so simple to use, even with a complicated return with multiple forms and lines to fill out, it is a breeze. the only complication this year was going from pc based to web based and back to pc based. my 2018 files from the online version were not accessible on the desktop version. I hope they can fix that one major bug.

Good for windows not Mac
