Good value
Easy to use, handles a very simple small business (commission based, anyway), transfers information between family members, so great for when you have students at post-secondary institutions. Love the RRSP optimizer and I run it every year before the RRSP contribution deadline to see if I need to do a last-minute top-up. One word of caution, do not trust the Charitable Donation Optimizer. It appears to work on the assumption that the husband is automatically the higher income earner. Its idea of optimizing is to put all donations on the husband's return. This would have cost us a couple hundred dollars if I hadn't overridden it. Even so, I'll buy it again next year as it makes trying different "what if" scenarios so easy.

Quick and easy
This is a very simple program to use and the helps are informative and useful. I did have some problems with the contributions optimizer but I think I got everything sorted out. There were a couple of times I had to re-hit the continue button, the file did not seem to respond the first time I clicked, but it went through the second time. Overall, I still give this product a high ranking.

Needs clarification
two issues for self-employed: 1) my wife gets a T4A every year although she is a contractor, and if she puts it into the spot where it asks for T4A income, her business income shows up double!! This has happened the last four years!! 2) In the expenses for business it is not clear whether the actual expense is to be entered or the prorated expense. Still haven't figured this out!!

Very Easy To Use
I have used the product for years. However, this year I had issues when connecting to CRA for importing tax slips and downloading NOA. I was doing a joint return and whenever I tried to do the second person's info, I received an error at the CRA site and TurboTax hung. It was very frustrating

A bit confusing
It can be a bit confusing to find specific lines on which to enter an item. It may be I was used to the older versions and my eye sight is not what it once was.

Please make it stop
Every time I open TurboTax, I get asked if I want to download my slips. Each time I say no. You'd think it would get the hint and stop showing me this dialog.

Ease of use 1 star because no matter what resolution settings I use the top icon line and the bottom line where the forms or slips are indicated are so small that they are impossible to read. I am going by memory based on other years when this worked properly

2019 TAX YEAR
I HAVE BEEN USING TURBO TAX FOR YEARS WHEN IT COME OUT BACK IN THE 90'S AND FIND IT HARD TO UNDERSTAND THAT USING THE SAME COMPUTER THAT IT REQUIRES ME TO RE-ENTER PERSONAL DATE, IE NAME BIRTH AND ADDRESS ETC

Simplifies the Process
Turbo Tax simplifies the process of doing personal tax returns. I used to use an elaborate home-made spreadsheet and I spent a lot of time updating year to year to make sure I caught all the math changes. Now I trust that it has all been checked by the T.T. folks and I just have to answer questions and do some data entry. The import function saves a lot of data entry and potential errors. My main complaint is that you cannot explain some of the numbers that show up in "View Tax Summary" until you print and review the printed copy as the summary does not show the pages with the calculations - i.e. CPP contributions on 30800 appears really wrong until you can finally review the Schedule 8 calculations.

Only Viable Product Option
Poorly handle Foreign US income. For example, IRA income not completed automatically in US funds. Option to share US pension does not include any mention of US foreign tax credits. US is an important country to get right. The link between the details and the CRA forms is not clear. CRA has same issue. I did a spreadsheet to understand link between details and summaries. I am almost prepared to do the tax forms without Turbo Tax

Need to update some line numbers

Good product relaibe easy to use
I have been using this tool since 1992 (when it had a different name. It has a nice feel to it when I fill in the form version. the only challenge I have is that sometimes I clik help and cannot get the correct words to find what I need. However, a little perseverance and all is good.

4th year using this software
very easy to use, easy to understand.
I wish it was bit more intuitive with some things. i.e. when doing my kids returns, it asks the same questions, like retirement, grandchildren and dependents etc. You would they can skip by most of those questions based on age???

Good Purchase
It works good and easy to use.
I get an assessment each year by the CRA and then I owe them money and I put in all the information as required. Not sure why cannot figure it out as they quote line number and this does not give it to me.

T5008 ISSUE
Turbotax is good value, year over year. However, using the import of CRA data for T5008 data (of which there can be several hundred items) required indicating for each individually if it was interest or capital gains - an extremely tedious procedure.
