I,ve been using turbo tax for years and always found it very good.how ever when ask to up grade to premium the charge was the same as if I purchased another copy.(ie there was no reduction for my original price I paid for the standard version. Also why is it cheaper to buy a hard copy from retail outlet than direct from turbo on line???? This years version would not import my personal data when I began my 2018 return.

Needs correct Marginal Rate
This product is very useful. I'm glad Turbo Tax brought back the Marginal Tax Rate information in the Tax Summary but it's not calculated correctly. This is important information especially if you are filing with your spouse so you can try to equalize the marginal rates. But everyone should know what their marginal tax rate is. Turbo Tax, please fix this for next year.

Easy to use mostly
I was not clear how to calculate my medical expenses and if I qualify. The explanation was marred by double negatives. I was not clear about direct fillings of my different T forms.

Makes it easier
I like the product a lot, but it does have shortcomings. e.g. I find it difficult to get answers to questions about things like "why don't all items in CRA import show up in TT?" and "why can't I add notes to medical expense worksheet?"

Hard to get our of spousal return
When done net filing both spousal returns it does not exit but goes back and asks if we want to save return. Note a clean close.
Also added the section on selling primary residence and looked for info. We don't know wherre this comes from!

Only one small issue
Excellent product but a small issue which gave me trouble was the inability to type in the at sign @ when I was putting in my email address. I finally copy pasted it in from Word.

Improvement suggestions
1) On provincial profile, 2nd item, Ont senior home owners property tax grant: I found statement unclear. Is it referring to grant application or receipt of grant?
2) CONTINUE button. Suggest moving it to the left as it is often off my 13" screen.
3) Remote access. I had a pretty straight forward general question for your CSR. She wanted me to give her remote access to my account. That would have wasted time and effort for both of us.
4) DETAILED TAX SUMMARY: Provide drill down feature to ease clarification of background details.
5) At any point of forms completion, allow for print of any selected page so that it might be taken to my financial planner for analysis. It could be overlaid with DRAFT to avoid possible confusion.

Good assist for Tax Preparation
This product does get the job done with the exception of advising what is acceptable for capital gain/loss transactions or the total by account. Also the foreign security report does not permit more than 3 lines of dealer/country, adding a second page would be efficient instead one needs to file an additional T1135 form. tks

Very good but not perfect
There should be a way to share T5013 entries and carrying charges with a spouse on shared accounts like for T5, T3, T5008 to avoid having to calculate split and enter on both returns.

Good Experience
This was the first time we used NETFILE to file our returns and it was quite straightforward. We encountered no difficulties and the prompts were clear and seemed reasonably appropriate. We look forward to using TURBO TAX again next year.

An Idea
Very confusing. Either choose to use Easy Steps only or use the Forms method. Two years ago I had to request a review because data was entered in both formats. It took several days to find the problem & submit copies of the duplication. After that, the service was excellent. I received about $230.00 to correct the error. This happened again this year, but I think I corrected all the duplicated fields. However, it took several days of our time.
Some sections should be broken down to simpler entries. Many sections are not understood as there are too many criteria for one to follow. Do not use abbeviations such as FMV????

The T1135 is of no value , as it has room for only 3 transactions, There is no reason the field cannot be expanded to at least 20 entries.

Good, a few glitches

Very good system, but a glitch in capital gains
Have used TurboTax for many years and always found it easy and straightforward. But in 2018, it failed to transfer the details of my T5008 capital gains items to Schedule 3, so I had to input it separately. Also, had a problem updating the forms from the TurboTax website and had to go online with a TT rep for almost an hour to sort this out. But averaged over all the years, this is not a lot of time spent needing support.

Easy to use
The only problem was when trying to use the auto fill there was a log in problem with CRA asking to try later. When I went back to Turbotax I found that the program had crashed and I had to reopen and fill the information again

The only thing I that needs to be included in future TT offerings would be an auto-info feature.
Something like hovering the mouse pointer over a box number on a T4,T5,T013 etc would automagically pull up a summary of what that box info is linked to.

Turbotax should but doesn't offer this tip. If you are not sure how certain entry amounts will affect your taxes owing, or refund, after or even before completing all entries, go back and change one or more. In the upper left hand corner, you will see the changes to the total. This is especially useful when entering medical expenses and charitable donations. Helps you to decide to use an expense or donation this year or carry forward and use in next year's tax return.

Quick & easy
