Had net filed everything, saved PDF, saved the return, and then every time I press continue it just loops through bringing me back to the Netfile page and on through printing, saving all over again. Had to just close down the program.

Works well, includes some tips and optimizers for assisting with spousal returns - who should choose the deductions. But some of the optimizers are undocumented as to how to use them. Also, TT froze after a CRA MY ACCOUNT login was unsuccessful, so I had to kill the program and lose previous information.

like use of actual forms, optimizers and AFR, but a bit clunky moving around. need more 'click on a box to be taken to related box' -- both down and up or back and forth ie from detail to related form and then return. need better help/info -- for example no info on where/how to enter pension buy back data not on a t-slip. Form and t-slip lists should always appear in alpha order everywhere.

I have used TT for many years. There has been some glitches but were resolved ok. This year the popup asked me to register. I did twice and it still popped up whenever I opened the program. Annoying , but did not affect the return.

On one of the pages during Net File, it asks 2 questions about going paperless (1) Yes, sign me up - it only takes a minute or (2) I'm not ready to go paperless. There should be a 3rd option - I HAVE ALREADY GONE PAPERLESS YEARS AGO, and don't need to make a selection.

1. I find it confusing when Turbo Tax asks whether I bought or sold any stocks or bonds. Is this not the same as my investment firm buying and selling stocks or bonds on my behalf and then providing a T5 with all the appropriate information?
If so, I would think it warrants a note for users that if any information required in Turbo Tax is already provided on a T4, T5 or other form created by and institution or business for the purpose of preparing taxes, that this same information will not be required to be entered until such time Turbo Tax asks for the information from these forms. (I.e Buying or selling stocks or bonds which is already on a form such as a Portfolio Management Fee Summary.)
Better yet! Could this information from the forms be entered into Turbo Tax first and any correlating questions be removed automatically in the programming so to eliminate duplication of questions further in the process?
2. Turbo Tax keeps bringing up Smart Tips such as those referring to medical expenses and TFSA's when I have already been through those questions in a previous section and didn't click them because they didn't apply to me.
3. The Warnings also have a review button for items that, once again, I have already been through in a previous section and didn't click them because they didn't apply to me. If any of those items applied to me I'm sure I would have dealt with the them in the appropriate section. (I.e Disposed of Principal Residence, Change of name, address, etc.)
In my opinion, having to read the same redundant questions over and over turns Turbo Tax into a lengthier than necessary process which I'm sure was not the original intent in the development of this software.
As a user, I'm curious to know if the steps for providing information into Turbo Tax can be improved upon or rearranged in such a way to eliminate duplication of questions?
4. I do find the definitions in the highlighted links to be very helpful.
5. I also appreciate all the hard work and collaboration that has gone into creating not only Turbo Tax but also in establishing the link to the CRA. This is one case where I can honestly say computers and programs like Turbo Tax actually do save time and effort.

I value the product. Relatively easy to use. However it is frustrating when there is a problem and you are not sure how to solve it. Example: I had a problem printing the return because the update for the forms was not happening.. Took me a while to solve the problem.

So, a couple of items: 1) When I'm asked if I want to transfer tuition/education amounts to a parent et al, why doesn't it ask me which parent and transfer the appropriate amount to that parent's return. I.e. Why are the returns not linked? If my parents don't include my signed T2202A in a paper submission, their return will either be delayed by Revenue Canada until such time as the missing form is provided, or they will subsequently be requested to submit the form as part of an audit a couple of years later by which time the paperwork could be lost.
2) Why doesn't the sale of property (principal residence) screen give you an option to say - No, Does Not apply to Me. It bugs me to have this come up in the warning or whatever at a later point. I live with my parents and this issue bugs them as well. We have lived at the same address since 1987.
3) Frankly, there are a few other places where warnings or forms pop up that I had no idea where they came from and I can not get ride of them. The result, a bunch of blank forms print out. Does the return need to print pages with no entries on the page. Should that not trigger a warning with specific instructions of where to go back to to change the answer that CAUSED unnecessary wasted paper.

1. Please add option to increase font size in data entry forms. For example, font used for data & explanatory notes in Schedule 3 is hard to read. Add option of increasing form's font size to make both data & explanatory info easier to read. 2. Schedule 3's Caveat re not entering T5008 data in addition to completing Sch 3 should be more prominent (e.g. in red) - or TurboTax should prevent one from entering duplicate data by issuing warning or an error message.

This is still the best way to do taxes, but the Easy Form input could be refined to stop asking repeat questions. It's confusing and disconcerting to be asked repeatedly about pension splitting, TOSI, etc. when I've already done that. Replace the endless questions with "here's what we've done so far" which could show yes to pension splitting, no to TOSI, yes to medical optimization, etc. Would be easier to use, especially when you're going back and forth a couple of times to check entries.

I must file in Ontarion and Quebec. Given the different regulations this software makes it easy to enter only once ond the data automatically updates the Provincial forms (except for Capital Loss Carryforward in Quebec).

Generally very good but some of the features could be more intuitive or clearer. For example, the pension splitting could be shown on the Detailed Summary for each spouse. Also the use of T1032 could be easier re the pension splitting.

T Tax asks which country the T5 income came from, BUT, even if you select USA, it still reports the amounts in CDN$. CRA picks this error up & re-assesses you. T.T. should be able,(when it updates) to obtain the average conversion rate from Bank of Canada, & apply it to the T5 numbers, instead of the user multiplying each number by the conversion rate.

I missed clicking one tiny box, and it took me over an hour to find my mistake. All information should be easier to access. I hate doing my own taxes, but it's way too expensive to get them done somewhere else.

This time, I could not save the initial copy of my partially completed return within Netfile due to a setting in Windows 10 Defender. I could not get to talk to a "Netfile human" rep to help find out what the problem was. I could only get to a "computer rep" that could not understand the problem. I eventually contacted Microsoft and they referred me back to Netfile to resolve the problem with the "Netfile App" however, the Microsoft rep recognized a problem I had when installing new programs through Windows Defender. He helped me reset a switch that had blocked ransomware. Once reset, Netfife could save my return within the netfile program. Please allow a technical contact number for technical problem resolution.

With numerous deductions in it very helpful to ensure the calculations are correct and it allows me a printed copy

Be careful with foreign exchange rates: it is always the Foreign currency over Canadian. This is not done automatically in TurboTax, and you won't get a chance to review the calculation to see your mistake. That's the only issue I've had with it. Optimizers are great.
