PC / MAC Issues
I like Turbo Tax and have used it for many years, but since I purchased a Mac Book Air 2 years ago, I am finding it is a real problem not being able to download the software to my own computer. Next year I will consider another tax product if there is no change

Best investment
I've used Turbo Tax for the last eight years or more except for 2017 tax year when my mother passed away, I didn't feel able to cope at the time. I've used Turbo Tax for myself and husband and then my mother, brother and aunt. We've all been satisfied with the quick returns using CRA net file system . I would recommend this product to anyone making a standard income report.

No income was split but T1206 was printed.
No principal residence was disposed of yet that form was printed.
Investment Income form was used but not printed.
Northern Resident question was never asked so you are on your own to catch this $2,000 credit.
Downloaded investment slips were incomplete i.e. cost base not filled in!

Almost Perfect
I like the program but I have two problems. One was with the optimizers. They work but how do you know if they have been applied? They need to have a "Apply" button or a notice that says to put the figure/amount that I have chosen on the next screen .
The second problem - When doing two returns together and when entering a shared slip ( for instance a T3 or T5) you put the % figure that is shared on the first persons share but the remainder that is other share does not show on the other person's return until you get to the detailed summary at the very end when it seems to be included in the totals. No explanation or anything. I'd like - I need - to see it applied immediately.

The disc didn't load so had to download the program electronically. Annoying as the file will be erased from my computer for security reasons and I don't have a copy on the disc. would have been $10 less if I just downloaded it in the first place.

Good value for tax software
Some things are a bit confusing, but all tax software is because of Revenue Canada's strange tax structure.. I recommend this software to all of my friends. It is simple to use for even the beginner. The low income filing for free is a great option also..

Pros and Cons
The software is easy to use and helps with recalculations. I have used turbo tax for many years for Canada and USA. I prefer the US version. Some of the issues.
1. I was allowed to file my return twice with the CRA.
2. The program recommended premier for a simple T5. Seems over kill.
3.The warnings were redundant. For example, I had done the pension income sharing with the optimizer and it still warned me to consider.
4.The printout and the PDF do not include all forms with personalized numbers and information especially the input worksheets which should be printed and used to check inputs.
5.Not sure if this a turbo tax or CRA issue, the foreign withholding tax is not shared along with the shared foreign pension.

One Minor Beef
I have used this product for years and will likely continue. The only "beef" I had this year was that there was no upfront instruction on how to use the autofill function, namely that it automatically pops up once the preliminary info screens have been completed. I checked out the website and there was no information there indicating this either. Otherwise, another year done.

Good but has an annoying quirk.
I've used TurboTax for several years and find it works well for my needs, which are pretty straightforward. The persistent quirk, though, is that the software can't find my file when I start working then return to it on another day. I have to close TurboTax then open the file from Windows Explorer. I've experienced this on multiple computers so the computer isn't the issue. I would think that TT would get questions about this every year so they would fix it.

I find TurboTax very helpful, however, in some circumstances that are less common, information is not available in the help menu. Each year it seems I end up calling CRA to ask a question not answered in Turbo Tax. This year, I found no information in Turbo Tax on where to enter Performers Royalties income in the tax form.

Print options
After printing and saving PDFs and then submitting to CRA, your software then suggests this be all printed/PDFed again at the end of the session. If it already all printed/PDFed then why would I want to do it again?

Fast and (fairly) painless
TurboTax has done a good job to make this package user-friendly, while still allowing you to drill down and change things if needed.
One warning - don't assume the software will always put deductions against the right spouse: some deductions for a disabled dependent were put against the lower income earner!
