Could be so much better
I have always used Intuit's tax products to fill my tax return. This year it would not import last year's information so I was like a first time user again. Many other places in the step-by-step process could have been auto filled with logical information but I had to type in so much obvious information. At the end review the suggestions for saving were just as poorly thought out, such as applying for deductions for seniors, I'm pretty sure I already typed in my birth date.

Needs some refinement
Been using TurboTax Standard for years now, and always process information as a joint spousal return. Just a couple of issues I encountered with the 2018 version.
1st, a new page popped up this year about halfway into the process, asking for info on dividends and interest. It was long after I'd already inputted the data from my t-slips, but I thought it was just a recap so filled it in. Quickly saw though that it was duplicating the t-slips data and inflating our incomes accordingly. So not sure what the point of this new page is.
2nd, towards the end we're asked to check if we want to go paperless with CRA. It's either click yes or no, with no option that says "I'm already paperless".

Info and worksheet should be easier to use for people receiving United Nations pension funds from outside CANADA (USA). I receive a pension fund in USD with exemption for taxes due to a treaty between Canada and the UN pension fund. It was really hard to fill the forms.
I believe a new specific sheet should be added for easing calculation of taxes for foreign pension funds

RRSP Optimizer / Seniors
Why continually present the RRSP optimizer to seniors not permitted to invest in RRSPs??? You know the age of the person filing the return after page 1.

Excellent way to file income tax returns
The TurboTax is an excellent guide to filing income tax returns.
The only suggestion I would make is that when you use direct deposit for refund (no change from previous year) remind people where the deposit will be made and approximately how many days before it will show up in your account.

Good way to do taxes

Still good, but not as good
I've been using TurboTax for years, and this is the first time I have been frustrated by issues.
Cells which according to the CRA website I was supposed to enter values into were calculated - and getting to the form TurboTax wanted me to fill in required double clicking on a different cell (in my case 2 down)… clearly intuitive.
The software still doesn't properly scale on 4K monitors, it's better than it was 3 years ago, but still some items (button bar) don't scale.
It would be nice to see some actual interface dev work in next year's version - but my guess is they only care about the cloud version.

Too many pop ups
It works well and practically does everything for you. You get a continuous barrage of pop ups that can't be turned off. Filing with the CRA is still clunky. It shouldn't be difficult to simply file your return, it should be a matter of a click or two.

Quick Tax Filing
This was a good experience since this was the first tax filing I've ever completed. The only negative point was the amount of times throughout the process we were asked to upgrade to next level of product - very annoying.

Your T1135 has limited use for taxpayers having multiple country codes . The form needs to be expandable to accommodate more than the 3 rows that you have. I needed 8 rows and was unable to use the Turbo Tx T1135. I reported this the previous year as well.

One Flaw

Chink in the armor
Love the product and have used it since its inception. Got me this year with it failing to update. So I attempted to forgo it and was unable download from CRA [no window, no icon, etc.] After wasting much of my time and reading many helps, I relented to the manual update. I love the product because it is fast and easy, BUT not today!

Easy to use program
I really like using Turbo Tax, the cost is reasonable and I can maneuver through the program with ease. If I could change one thing, when completing couple returns, I would rather enter information slips by person, rather than by form. I'd like to enter all one person's information then the next rather than going back and forth.

Turbo Tax good - could improve
Turbo Tax is very good but has 1 frustrating flaw. It is easy to split income on T5s and should have a similar feature for splitting capital gains and losses. Helping more on the T1135 would be great

Get the Income Tax Guide
If I answer 'no' to a question, then it shouldn't keep asking me in the end to review.
ie. did you dispose of property.
Also, it said that I could not claim my son as a dependant as he was 18 at the end of 2018. Well he did not turn 18 until end of November. YES YOU CAN CLAIM, as the rules in the Income Tax guide says, "if at any time in the year' the child was under 18 years of age. I had to call Revenue Canada, as I wanted this clarified.
The tax program needs to have more detailed information - I will definitely make sure I have the tax guide when I do taxes next year.

Covers the basic case.
Straight forward when you have typical employment and investment income and no special circumstances. The zoom function this year seems not to detect the appropriate zoom and some forms appear to run off the screen; using the View/Zoom function seems a clunky way to do it.

Happy 1rst time user
After years of using accountants, we decided to use intuit turboimpot to learn a bit more how this tax stuff works and it was quite easy in a step by step info filling software, took me about 3-4hrs(had to find some docs) to do for a 3 person family.
It also can connect to the federal and provincial sites to download and double check our info. it also uploads at the end, no paperwork to print and send! :)
