Quick & Easy
I've used Turbo tax for over 10 years. Only complaint this year is that last years information from 2017 was not easy imported into this years taxes...i.e. name, address etc. I had to really search on the tabs to find it...I remember it being much easier in previous years

Will make life easier
The software is easy to install and start using. It is also good for filling the basic info using previous returns. However it is not friendly to navigate and when it comes to warnings it may go circular on you

TIME CONSUMING
I have used turbotax standard for at least
ten years, but, confound it, in this era of
dramatic improvements to computer
programs, certainly turbotax has not become
much more intuitive.

Good Product
Good logical progression through the various steps. Need make sure the boxes are checked correctly in the initial stages to get the right input sheets come up later. My program upon completion of a filing for one individual would let me go back main program screen. Had to exit the program completely and restart. No information lost but a bit frustrating

A very Convenient Approach
Turbotax seems to come up with something new every year that makes the tax filing process a lot easier and convenient. Its bad enough that some of us have to pay a bit more tax when we file taxes, we dont need to labour while filing the taxes too. Very user friendly, technologically up to date and whorth every penny.

2018 purchase
Not the best one TurboTax has provided. I had some forms unnecessarily printed twice; information recorded twice which could not be deleted and no recourse in help; empty forms printed when I had asked it not to, and on it went. Never had a problem before, let us hope TT gets it right next year.

ONE PROBLEM
This version did not prompt me to transfer 2017 data to this return which I had to input manually! Should I have clicked on 2017 return begore going to new return? Please make this clear on 2020 form!

Too many pop-ups trying to upsell professional help.
Re Deceased taxpayer's medical- why not an alert in the beginning re 2 years receipts. That info only came when I tried to file.

Smarter or Stupider?
I've been using Intuit software for many years, but TurboTax is becoming so annoying I will be looking for other options next year. It is convenient to enter T slips and information, but the navigation has become almost unbearable, with so many ads for additional services, and repeated prompts to save your file, even after you've saved it many times, and have NETFILEd it. I prepare for all our family members, but found myself exiting the app several times as I tried to close one return and open another. Every time it kept prompting me for auto-fill, which made me nervous. How many times does a person need to say NO to this software? Then it prompted me for split income, sale of primary residence and all sorts of weird stuff in the Smart Tips, and printed blanks forms for all of these, even though I clicked "do not apply to me". Very annoying and confusing.

Medical Expenses
My wife had an income of less than $10000, but Turbo Tax kept changing the medical expenses claim from my name to hers even though she was not paying any tax - if I listened to Turbo Tax, I would be getting a refund of about $300 less.

Issues with Last Step
I used easy step this year with Windows 10 laptop. I had two issues near the end
1) Review - the continue button was off the screen to the right ..could not find it until I realized I had to scroll right. This sent me into a spin cycle trying to figure out how to go forward. 2) the last few steps after you netfile the first time were not as clear as 2017...I ended up going through the file steps about 3 times trying to get to the end of the process

T5008 PROBLEMS
Information entered on T-5008 boxes is not properly or completely transferred to th CRA T5008 from, and supplements.
Turbo Tax could improve their product by allowing individual entry sheets to be printed. It is much easier to check thru on paper, than on screen.

I found sometimes when I clicked on a "continue" button it would darken to indicate that the touch had been sensed but no action would take place. Had to click the dark button to get it to continue.

The software is actually getting worse each year with more loop arounds that are unnecessary if not following the Turbo Tax directed "way," ie. I prefer to print and mail in...
Each return does not appear to actually close when actually completed? Extra info is printed and then identified as not necessary to mail in. Because I am familiar with the software for many years now, I believe it is becoming more flawed. Turbo Tax should be running more checks and balances to keep simple for the average taxpayer that is not stupid!

Turbo Tax Standard 2017
I have used the turbo Tax standard program for several years and it to be accurate and fast way to prepare my taxes. One must understand there situation and answer the questions correctly for a suitable outcome. I would like to see less paper required to print your own copy. This year with Tax on Split Income 7 additional pages were printed and it did not apply to me.

Suggestion
In entering Capital Gains, it appeared that there was still room at the bottom of page 1, but i started getting the message to refer to some other form. The solution was to advance to page 2, but it took a while to figure this out

Great Product, but Can be Frustrating
TurboTax is a great product and I've used it for years; however, they could definitely improve the warnings and tips that you receive prior to Net filing - they are repetitious and it becomes very irritating. After they confirm that your return has been saved, the question whether you want to save your return comes up 3 more times. I would really like them to improve this portion of their product.

Good program, some glitches.
I last used TurboTax several years ago. 2018 is my first time back.
I had some problems going back in the curent tax program to check entries I had made. The program wanted me to continue entering more items. I gave up trying to go back and continued on. Eventually I got to a spot where I could check my entries and discovered a blank entry, which I deleted.
When I came back to the program later I wanted to review everything I had entered. Somehow I was led to the CRA website to renew my authorization to use the website and I ended up accidentally sending my tax return to the CRA. I also sent my spouse's return to CRA. The problem is that I think my spouse's reported income includes the amount of her OAS and CPP benefits twice and she now has too high a total income and paid too much tax.
I have decided to wait and see what CRA does with our returns. If they correct my spouse's return and increase her refund I will be happier, but I will still have to correct the amount of pension I transferred to her.
I can see on the print out of her return that the amount of OAS and CPP income she received is included in both lines 113 and 114 and is also included in the "other pensions and superannuation" on line 115. This can't be correct.

minor concern
In general I find this program helpful and user friendly. I always request the most recent updates. When I did so today, the program reverted back to its usual way of handling medical costs even though I had directed it otherwise when I had completed and saved my information a couple of weeks ago. It made a significant difference that was NOT to our benefit. I was only glad that I knew what our results were supposed to have been and could make the changes - again - which I felt took additional time away from my schedule unnecessarily.

Turbotax is easy to use and seems to cover all my needs. I experienced a little difficulty in going back to correct errors or omissions when in the guided help mode. It is probably easier if you do several returns, but I just had two.
