Printed copy issue
I have been using your software for at least 10 years and like to print up the copy for review prior to submitting the return electronically to the CRA. This year the schedule listing all of the T3's and T4's didn't print so I had to go back to the program to double check my imput.

The autofill feature from the cra didn't work. If there was some autofill button or checkbox on the cra website, we didn't see it.

Good software, mostly easy to use.
Would like quicker way of entering multiple medical expenses for same person.
Link to CRA after Netfiling caused problems - system hung up. Restarted pgm and had to go through Netfiling again to finish completely.

How Long Have I been Using This?
I don't even know how long I have been using turbotax. I think there are things they can improve on, like eventually we should be able to upload the receipts directly along with the entries. There are some more advanced functions that are a little clunky but generally it does everything I need.

Great but...?
Tax software and online filing is the only way to go. Have used Turbo Tax since very early "QuickTax days. TT Standard is slick, easy and more than adequate for most taxpayer situations. While mainly solid, I did encounter disappointing glitches this year. Auto-fill of basic info from year before failed though it was right there in same default directory where TT left it. Checking for online updates worked only the first time, thereafter failed. Auto-fill of slips from CRA is FANTASTIC, when it works. Finally, after much hassle, did for one of us, not the other. Back to manual entry. Even with the auto-filled forms, beware you need to manually find and step through them to complete needed fields not covered. Once auto-filled, EasyStep just jumps over that form as if was a puddle, so you wouldn't know if not complete. Their Splitting Optimizers are very valuable but the calculations are opaque alchemy leaving you hoping for the best. The software's feedback/review of owing/owed results is too generic. You are left only guessing. Lots of popups however to invite you to pay more. These just play on generic insecurity and fear rather than detected situations that TRULY warrant upgrades and add-on services. The level of security with our data is critical. Likely it is top tier but could be enunciated clearly. As a loyal 20 year user not sure if any of the competition have matched or surpassed. Given shortcomings will check next year, just in case.

Able to tranfer last year information
Would like to be able to transfer basic information from last year to this year. Example: Able transfer name, Sin # birth of date, maybe even last information on what income, deduction type I used. As every year it is about the same. This will help less typing and reading.

Ordeal Over
The program is not as user friendly as it could be. For example the close and save for each page is easy to forget. Why not just when you close the program? The number of elements you can transfer from the T5008 input to Schedule 3 should have no limit. There are other similar issues.

easy to use
EasyStep makes it easy to enter your information. Information is entered to tax properly but I still review Forms to see all information is entered (as a double check).
Had problems this year saving tax returns in EasyStep and Forms (lost information more than once due to file save error) and had to contact TurboTax for fix. Many people claimed to have same problem. This made me a little concerned.

Standardizing on Turbo Tax
We've used turbo Tax for 5 years ever since we both retired. It is easy to use & I like the easy access to CRA for existing information and filing. We are simple users with only pensions and donations to record.

One small improvement recommended
I ran into difficulties with a T5 for which the income was split with someone other than my spouse. It I selected that only 50% of the income was mine, the other half defaulted to my spouse. As a result, I simply entered 1/2 the values on the T5. However, the other party, using different software had the option of selecting 50%, but were able to indicate the other 50% should not go to a spouse. It would have been nice to have this option in Turbo Tax

Ongoing Benefit

Rollover is great
I love the feature that auto rolls over last year's info, so I don't have to enter the basic ID info each year. Double check things like dependent eligibility for deductions from year to year, though, as it automatically assumes last year's status.
