Works as promised
Turbo Tax is a better way to complete a tax return than is the old manual way. It spots errors and offers advice. It is possible to erase all data entries, so it does need a warning if one is about to do that inadvertently.

Some issues
I keep getting an error code when I fill out T1135. I spent an hour on the phone with Turbo Tax and they were unable to give help. Even so I finally ignored the error and it e-filed OK. Also, with the new Schedule 14, I would have missed the credit unless I noticed that even though the "Yes" was ticked, I wasn't getting any dollar credit. I had to go to Easy steps to fill in special fields.

I have been a user of TurboTax when it was still called QuickTax. The 2018 version is smoother to use than previous versions.

Mostly fine
Still accurate but this year there were a couple of bugs with the questionnaire. As long as you can ignore that you haven't actually sold your house or that your spouse sold a second house with the capital gains associated, it works just fine. Still easier than paper forms.

In a Loop
At the end of completing a return it asks 'do you want to start a new return?', if you say yes it just takes you back to the same screen. The only way I could get out was to exit the program and go back in.

Good tax program
I have been using the program for many years from its early format. While there have been a few glitches, in general I am happy and it gets the job done. The print command could be improved with a minimum print option that would just print the main parts without a lot of pages that are not important. Overall I can't complain.

Good overall (except for health receipts)
Overall the tool does a great job walking you through step by step. It is very easy to use and the tips are helpful and informative. But if you have more than a handful of health receipts to claim it is very painful to use the EasyStep method having to repeat the name of the patient and the name of the service provider. In our case we had over 100 receipts, 80 of them for the same provider and I had to enter each one by one. There has to be an easier way to do that!

If you have a farming address in a different province than your main residence you must send in a paper copy....please put this in your coding. ....it took me a long time to find out from rev can this piece of info after I tried a number of iterations to netfile.

hickup @ electronic extraction
It was pretty straight forward till i got to what i thought was the CRA automatic information extraction. Even though i did not have an account the software said no problem but did not pull the electronic figures out. i had to manually enter the numbers into the boxes.

Good But
Overall TurboTax is easy to use, but first time users will have to make sure they read everything and click every box to make sure they get all the deductions pages. The program can be frustrating with optimizing charitable donations and medical expenses. It tries to use charitable donations with the lower income earner even when there is no advantage. With medical expenses it tries to move them to the lower earner even when they have no taxable earnings after the automatic deductions. Frustrating, so just watch for it to correct it if necessary.

Need help optimizing donations and Medical
My spouse and I are about equal in net income after using TurboTax to optimize pension sharing. I found I could reduce overall tax by sharing the donations with my spouse. Turbo tax helped a bit with this but it could do more. I bet with TurboTax's help I could have saved money by optimizing the Medical costs with my spouse but I couldn't figure out how. TurboTax only assigns the whole amount to one or the other, not both.

Sometimes not intuitive
I had great difficulty with Charitable donations as I had previous ones carried forward and if I could balance them with my wifes return, I woud get all my prepaid taxes back. It was confusing as to how to find a number to continue to carry forward and then assign my wife a portion as to not over contribute to taxes. Other than that, it was a breeze

Still good, but could still be better
I've been using QuickTax/TurboTax since about 1995, and each year the interface improves. Thank you for making the Summary just a click away in the upper right. The Bookmark feature might be useful, too, although I didn't use it. There's still room for improvement, though, with Foreign Pension Deduction (line 256 on T1 General). After many years I'm familiar with how to do this, clicking on Line 256 to get to Other Income, Deductions and Credits. But a walk-through by TurboTax might be helpful for those who need to do this deduction for the first time.

Worked fine, but there were a few issues compared to previous year's versions. I wasn't able to import basic information from previous year's returns as I seem to have been able in the past, there was a very annoying recommendation that I upgrade to a higher version because of an entry I made (which I hadn't, but I had to go back and verify that I hadn't), and I seemed to have got stuck in a loop at the completion of one return rather than being able to proceed to complete a new return, so I had to close the program before I could begin entering the next. However, the import information from CRA was really easy to do this year, which was a plus.

Solid performer
This is the 18th year we have used Turbo Tax and it's predecessors and it continues to be relatively straight forward for ease of use and completeness. Only complaint is the character truncation on some of the forms and the inability to override this.
