First Time User of Turbotax
I am a first time user of TurboTax. I found the software quite easy to use. I did have to go back and forth a bit, but found I could navigate through quite well.

Good product, doesn't know everything
I like Turbotax, it helps you with the majority of basic functions. However, with things like refundable medical expenses, for example, you still need to know what you're doing - TT will not optimize it for you.

problems with turbotax 2018
I had a problem several times trying to save changes to my file
incident #447071661 would not save T-slip update info.Was able then to save update to my wife's return buy not my return.
incident #447076013 part way through the call was dropped.
Incident #447311503 reinstalled turbotax and was able to save my two new T-slips.Then next time got error TT401 not enough disk space.
Incident #447361556 reinstalled turbotax.
Added "donations" and saved
Added "medical" and could not save got error TT401 no disk space
Incident #447365180 we tried several things and appeared to solve problem on phone but after hanging up I could not save file TT401
Incident #447406107 Farzana was great.When she could not solve after a few tries she asked someone else for help.Found that turbotax was trying to save my file to my disk drive and not to my computer file.Good that she consulted a more knowledgeable person on her own.
The above took place between Mar 5 and Mar 13,2019.

Great features and very easy to use

quick and easy
Fast and easy to use, lots of help available for most simple tax questions. Got in a loop after submitting (via Netfile) regarding printing a copy of the return but the actual Netfile process much improved and seamless compared to earlier versions....SWEET!

OMG Let me OUT
It seems to have been modified and will not let me start a new return; it keeps wanting to save the existing file; which you do and then it asks if you want to start a new return: YES I do but it takes you back thru the same 5 screens OVER and OVER and DOES NOT START A NEW CLAIM. Super frustrating.
I do not feel some of the options are very clear.
There should be an third option for I am already set up for Direct Deposit and my banking information is the SAME; it should not be lumped in with a negative statement that does NOT apply to me.
Also, I already indicated I did NOT sell my primary residence, why was I asked again 2 more times.
I already have a CRA login account; why did I have to re-apply for one?
My previous year's information did not copy over this year.
Perhaps I need to go back and change my rating.
It is very quick and easy to fill in your tax data but honestly, previous years editions were better.

Needs work for T1135
I had to use the detailed reporting method for the T1135 and in section 2 (Shares of non-resident corporations) I had 5 items to specify. Unfortunately the static form TurboTax uses only has 3 lines in section 2. As such, I could NOT use TurboTax to do my T1135. I had to download the CRA fillable form, which lets you add lines to each section, print the form, and mail it to the CRA in Winnipeg for processing. I contacted the TurboTax help desk about this shortcoming, and received no reply, other than the call has been closed. Fix your product so more lines can be specified in the form (you cannot use a worksheet for this, and indicate in the T1135 to see a worksheet). I had this same problem with your product last year. PLEASE FIX THIS SHORTCOMING!

Inexpensive way to prepare simple tax return
I've been using Turbo tax for quite a few years as my husband and I have had fairly straightforward returns and I didn't want to pay someone to do something that I could do quickly and inexpensively myself. I will be the first to admit that I know very little about my taxes and have always trusted that Turbo Tax was guiding me to a correct and the best return. This year was the first year that I questioned my confidence in it. After having a baby, collecting EI and having a return unlike previous years, I felt confused with whether or not I was filing correctly and didn't understand the reason for my refund amount. That is completely my fault for my lack of knowledge, but I now wish Turbo Tax was even more basic and clear, specifically with "life changes" besides marriage, divorce, etc. Questions/steps on how to navigate a new baby/dependent for the first time for instance.

Turbotax Reliable and Consistent
I have used Cantax, Quicktax and now Turbotax for many many years. The best part about Turbotax specifically is that ever year the steps, interface and usage is reliable and DOES NOT CHANGE, which makes it easy to use, and removes the learning curve that would otherwise discourage me.
I would like the program to do more though - specifically to review the previous year return and point out if there are missing slips or radical changes from the previous year. After all the program already has this information.

A very solid and mature product
I've been using the product for years and it is very capable. My only complaint is that I don't fully understand what is supposed to happed when you elect to split a T3 or T5 with a spouse.

Great package!!!

Good Tool & Purchase
Standard TurboTax is a welcome product for tax submission. Although it's generally set up to explain & guide the person using it, it still has loopholes where you're not sure what you should do, e.g. I think a 'if you fill out this; you don't fill out that' section could be useful to prevent duplication of $ amts.

Helpful but wondering
I have been using the program for 15+ years. It has worked wonderfully years ago for my small business and now with no business. My only beef is, this year it kept trying to tell my I had sold my house and kept asking info on it. It kept at it even on the review, like I had made a mistake????
