Small hiccup during install, system would not launch from icon shortcut. Launched from file manager.

Messed up this year, 2018
Could not file taxes due to "forms not ready, Update in February" I updated in March, didn't work. I "closed unused forms" as suggested, didn't work. Finally I found some unused forms that were all zeroes, "cleared them" then "closed unused forms" and success! Don't know why it would open a capital gains form on my return when i have only ever had a capital gain over 20 years ago. TurboTax, please do not open unused forms in the first place and close them when asked.

Easy and simple
Turbo-tax was very easy to use and the helpful hints were also a great help. I lost my first review midway through the process and had a hard time finding a phone number to talk with a real person. I thought all my info had been hijacked I was inform to remove and reinstall but after completing that I still could not open my first report so I had to open another one start over hoping my info was not stolen. To make matters worse I was completing a joint return This is the first time in years that I had a problem. .

Easy to use, can't screw up
The help interface has been updated and is better than before. You may have to use google search for some questions, but overall TT has improved.

Quick and Easy
I have been using Turbo Tax for over 5 years. very easy to use , except for this year something going on -would not allow me to go to next return without closing the program !!! otherwise - no issues

good product
I enjoy using the Turbo Tax filing program. I have worked in a tax preparing office before, and I find the easy filing....easy. The only place I find the ease of use, not so user friendly is the saving and reopening of the tax return. If I don't go complete from beginning to end in one sitting, I find it difficult to find where Turbo Tax is saved unless I save it to my home screen. Even then, I find it doesn't open properly. This year, because I couldn't find where Turbo Tax was saved, I had to open a new tax return and make entries all over again. Somewhat frustrating. I'll try to have myself together enough next year that I won't have to close and reopen a return. Seems I recall that being a bit of an issue from previous years. But it is an easy to follow program.

The Support/Help links did not work for me. NAIC codes are difficult to figure out and I needed help..... otherwise Turbo Tax is very easy to use.

Great to have
I love Turbo Tax because it enabled me to do my taxes on my own when I never thought I could. It is convenient and easy to use and gives great advise to maximize refunds. Sometimes I find it can be a tad confusing to navigate through as there is so much info available. Also I would like to perhaps see a product that is just for a basic family return, like 2-4 returns with a lower price-point.

Uncorrected bug
You have a bug which has been carried over from last year. Box 23 on T4A(P) on my wife's return is blank. The software will accept neither a blank nor a 0. I enter 12 in order for it to be accepted. If the form includes a blank the software should accept a blank or the default 0.

Great Product Overall
I picked up TurboTax this year to make things simple and overall I achieved that. My only constructive criticism would be to maybe give students a discount or even lower the price a bit for the standard version. Other then that I will be using the service for years to come.

Good but could Improve
A little less friendly than previous versions. Still a very good product worth utilizing. Printing options for things like Detailed Tax Summary not available, splitting interest confusing, but all minor in nature. A lot of advertising screens that disrupt the flow, especially confusing after filing one spouse and trying to go back and file the other return

Pretty Decent!
If you are a person with an uncomplicated tax return, this is the software to use. Ideal for someone who has never done this before; it takes you by the hand and walks you through the process painlessly. For those with a bit more complicated tax situation, it will take you a bit more time to get there but it is still very doable. Great value for your money.

Manitoba Credits
I found it was not very helpful to determine which person in the case of a married couple should be splitting or claiming the Manitoba tax credit. As well, for the property taxes, it was confusing as to what portion to claim. More guidance on this subject would have been very helpful.

Does the job
Have used Standard for the past 6 yrs. It is trustworthy, however the UI/UX could be improved - anything from how screens display, to many seemingly redundant clicks, to unclear instruction. Makes for a bit of frustration while preparing returns. But as mentioned, the end result has been trustworthy. Auto-downloading forms/slips from CRA is extremely helpful

Getting complicated....
I've been using TurboTax for the last 10 years or so. I've always found it to be very easy to use, especially using the Easy Step format. However, this year, I had self-employment income. Very simple and one entry only. But the use of the T2125 form that comes up automatically was very vague. My self-employment income was reported on a T4A, but there is still a box on the T2125 for self-employment income, fees or services. As I had entered my deductions in other areas prior, I assumed I had to put this amount in again. But in doing so, it doubled my income for that source. The only indication of that was several steps along, when I realized my net income was more than my gross income. I had to call a tax friend who helped me figure out that that box would only be for income not on a T4A already. Perhaps some better clarification on that one item. Otherwise, excellent product.

Possible Glitches this year
Turbo Tax checks for updates each time is is started.. but once the update has been done... it closes the program. There is a noted (and annoying) lag between each page change.
I am unsure if these items are due to Windows 10.
Also... New this year is the Tax on Split Income (TOSI). Not sure if these pages (8 of them) are mandatory by CRA or if there can be a patch created to close unused documents if this does not pertain to the filer.
REGARDLESS of my issues above... I have used this product for 15+ years... it is a great product!

Excellent to Use
Used this company for many, many years and have never encountered any difficult situations with the program. The reason for the 4 stars overall is that in the T5008 section you can only enter in 2 digits following period when you need three or more.
