Reliable However...
We have been using this product for several years and are happy to say that it improves with each filing. Only problem for me is that I have been unable to link in to my mother's account on filing. CRA's system has me as an authorized representative via My Account yet there is a disconnect between Turbotax and CRA as it relates to enabling me to access her T-Slips for importing or reviewing her Express NOA.

Easy to file
As an accountant who knows about CRA and tax laws I find this product very explicative and easy to use. Even though I filed at the end of the period I recommend to start your filing early and take your time going over the excellent material, warnings and reviews that Turbo Tax offers.

Helpful program
The Easy Steps lead you through the tax return quite easily. The only problem I had was not being able to have TurboTax automatically divide Capital Gains between my spouse and me.

So 'helpful' it's more confusing.
I've gotten used to preparing my tax returns. At first - manually, then in recent years with QuickTax / TurboTax.
But this last one was 'difficult'. It 'simplifies' things so much that it skips important steps.
For EXAMPLE: I had to go back and 'find a way' to enter my charitable donations. For some reason it helpfully skipped right past that.
You might claim that it was there - I simply didn't recognize it. But that is maybe the point. I DIDN'T recognize it!
Also, my return was greatly reduced from previous years. I suffered a great deal of angst, trying to figure out why it did not meet expectations. The 'summary/review' pages were not revealing. They did not show Federal and Provincial taxes. Just all my Income and Tax Credits, but nothing about my taxes owing. Total confusion.

Great program until you have to print
The 2017 "Standard" version is great, and completes the returns easily and completely as it should. However, when it came to printing, the program let me down this year. In the normal course of the program, it printed my own return without an issue, but I had to go back and print (and save as a .pdf) my wife's return separately (although they were prepared together due to Pension Splitting). In addition, it never could print my Netfile confirmation pages as it should have (in both my case and my wife's return as well).

good but forgetful
Great software enabling you to bounce around sheets and keeps track of your refund but I have noticed it does not keep track of your capital cost and HST deductions anymore.

works well
The example on Turbo Tax for the Notice of Assessment is old. It does not match the CRA's latest version. This should be updated. The latest version does not show A & B.

Why can't I print your pages?
I would really like to be able to print items like the 2018 info carry forward but all it wants me to do is complete a print setup. In order to keep this info I either have to write it down or take a photo with my phone. Frustrating!

Three minor complaints I have this year:
Autofill from a previous version (ie. Small Business) did not transfer personal data to this Standard version;
No place to enter email address so it prints on Pg. 1 of T1 General before printing to file;
When completing spousal return at same time, name does not appear at top of each page as previously.

This makes doing taxes much easier
I really like this product because I'm bad at math and find doing taxes very stressful. TurboTax makes it much easier to bear. I always use the "wizard" and it walks me through very nicely.

Form Info
Business form relating to expenses seems to have less categories for specific expenses.
ie telephone, fees. I think they were included in the 2016 Standard package.
Guess I should step up the the next level.

RRSP
Almost everything was excellent following the questionnaire. I had a problem when I had to answer the questions concerning RRSP contributions. I had to re-read it several time before getting it right. The first few times I ended up double-reporting the amount of my contribution which only became apparent once I came to the RRSP review part. I was able to contribute 7500 but it was calculating 15,000 so it kept giving me a warning. Eventually I got the reporting correct, but it took an extra hour or so.

How to improve TurboTax
Medical optimizer gets it wrong year after year so that I have to manually override to obtain the best result for me and my spouse's situation: both medium incomes and considerable medical expenses but not of same magnitude. Also allow a 'save(as)' on all forms/pages of Easy Step.

Marginal tax rate
Thanks for bringing back the marginal tax rate info on the Summary Table. That is very important info for decision making and for minimizing total taxes for spouses. Unfortunately the calculation wasn't correct in my case ( said 12% rather than 26%) so please review the programming so it will be more helpful next year.

A good tax filer, but
Easy and quick to use to those familiar with TurboTax. However, my main complaint with TT remains, after 18 years of suggestions: There is STILL no way to list or print T-slips that have been entered into TT. This makes T-slip verification difficult and clumsy. All of the 'dings' by CRA over the years for me have been because of missing T-slips.
Even CRA auto-entering T-slips for you doesn't help much. This year they loaded my T-slips but missed a whopper T5, and many other T5008 transactions. So a good T-slip verifier function is just as important now as it has always been and TurboTax continues to offer no help in this regard.
Second issue. Not until this year did TT make it somewhat apparent that your T1135 may not have been filed with CRA in earlier years, even though it was filled out just like other forms in the TurboTax program. I wondered why CRA suggested in my assessments that I needed to file a T1135, when I assumed I had already done so!!!
