Buy it every year
Great step by step directions. Only complaint is that it doesn't explain if/or not, when filing as a married couple, I can deduct the refund from one to the amount owing for the other, or if it did, I missed it.

T5008 Can't split between Spouses!
I would have given Turbotax 5 Stars if on the T5008 income split there was a place to split capital gains between spouses. The T5 and T3 slips have this percentage option, why not the T5008? Spent an extra hour manually splitting stock market gains.

Easy to Use but could be improved
There should be a drop down box after items are entered onto the worksheets. Too redundant having to rekey the same information such as on Medical worksheet. Should have drop down ie. Dental, Prescriptions, Eyeglasses etc
As well if you enter in who you pay to why not have a drop down and then just select them

Will not let me exit
The options to print or save at the end of the program seem to be in a loop, leaving me with the impression I have not properly saved my return. After multiple saves (with different names) it prompts that your file has changed - do you want to save it? when I have not changed my file. (Did the software make a change and not inform me?) This is very confusing for the user. It will not let me exit unless I select FILE, EXIT. The buttons on the screen do not take me where the prompts imply they are going. - Very frustrating and confusing experience. Did I actually get a final copy saved? Does doing a hard copy print finally get me out of this loop? The software is a 5 otherwise.

It was very cumbersome to use this year as my spouse had died and I had to split the returns before completing. I had to keep going back and forth between returns to complete the pension income split form. The instructions for splitting the returns were also quite confusing.

Still has bugs
2 new bugs this year:
One, TurboTax kept insisting I made an RRSP contrib, when I had not nor entered it. It should have checked & noted that I HAD NO EARNED INCOME
2nd the CRA download was INCOMPLETE for 1 of the 5 mutual funds with PH&N, I had to manually add one & fix a field in all 5 !!!

A regular Purchase for me, 2017 back to 2001
Not sure if these ratings really make the software world go around. I find it kind of annoying how many additional services the software tries to peddle, during the Tax return process. This is typically unnecessary for the DIY tax return filer, although understand this advertising helps pay for development. Other than that, a reliable tool to get another one of life's most rewarding yearly chores done, quickly.

Great Product, except
This product is great. Every year it gets better. The only beef I have is that when I want to exit the program, it keeps cycling back and won't let me get out unless I just close the program. Wasn't an issue in prior years.

diappointed
I have used Quick/Turbo tax ever since it originally came out. This year has been by far my worst experience. Had two major problem which resulted in too much time on telephone. Today I was on the telephone for 1 to 2 hours, because the original download did not include TurboTax 2017. nsi ?? and as a result, I could not print and mail a return, that required it.

T5008 and T5013 Need Improvement
T5008 needs to have the option to share a chosen (%) percentage between spouses. The T5013 also needs this "% shared between spouses" feature .
The feature exists for T3 and T5 slips so these two common forms should have it too! ALSO - The T5008 needs room to record 50 -100 transactions not the current limit of 30/

Hasn't changed a lot but, is very useful overall. The final wrap-up procedure can be confusing. Transition from Turbo to CRA is not smooth. Probably CRA fault. Upselling is annoying. Sell a good product and don't down grade it by suggesting that it needs special auditing by others. It is either good or not; take your pick.

easy steps
I have used this program for so many years I cannot remember anymore! If I cannot get it at home I will go out of town just to pick it up. It is well worth the cost, it is easy to use. If there are questions, it is very easy to find answers under the help menu and also on line help is available. The warnings and tips are handy and I love the fact that it allows me to do both my husbands and my own tax form at the same time working out the spousal amounts etc. I would very much recommend this program and will continue to use it. I love the fact that you can check for updates and that it directly sends the information to CRA.

Good for most part
Data entry is easy, the only area which I think could be improved upon is the optimizers,. Once you ask for the program to optimize its difficult to understand if it has actually done it or not.

Needs TLC
The tax calculations and work flow are great. However, the size of the text for the toolbar is so small it is barely readable. I have looked for solutions for an hour and found nothing to correct this and I informed Intuit a year ago and see no improvement. The text in the task bar at the bottom of the window is also small and is half cut off by the window. I am thinking of terminating my long term usage of Turbo Tax.

Deals on Purchase Price
I purchased the version of the software in November, on a Friday and on the following Monday there was an offer of a 15% discount. There was no way to take advantage of it. Guess next year, I will wait until I see the offer.
