Best value for simple taxes
TurboTax has been consistent for years. Some years the access links have been more intuitive but once you find out how to get to the pages you need they are there.

When you show the page to ask if I want the data populated and I say no, I get the pop up when I open again... change this to offer and No and don't show me this again.

Easy to use, no problems
TurboTax 2017 was easy to use. Netfile is getting easier every year. I found one cosmetic error, on page 4 of return in upper right corner were two lines overprinted. Did not affect any numbers or calculations.

Taxes made easy

Navigation
You need to improve your navigation options. Sometimes one reaches a page and has no option to go back or cancel and return to the previous page. Also, after Review of return, one is not taken to Netfile. I thought this would be a logical step.

Quick & Easy Returns
It is not ethical to place charity ads in the charity form and therefore it should be removed.
I have been using this app since its introduction over five years ago and i have been satisfied with its upgrades. Overall the tax app is great and easy, using it by forms or easy-step.

final filing
The final filing and uploading to the CRA website has greatly improved. It is all done with a couple of mouse clicks now. :)

Summary
I had trouble with the summary. I like to compare the return with the previous year.
Various values from the previous year were not brought forward. Only the deductions as per the tax program were brought forward.
The values that I entered such as Pension,
CPP and OAS did not appear from one year to the next. I completed 5 returns and only one went very well. The program in 2015 worked very well and we could make our comparisons. Could the problem be Windows 10?

Good product
Good but could be great. The warnings and suggestions dont take into account the fact that you have already completed or dealt with some of the items they are suggesting you review. For example if you split pension income it should know this and not suggest that you split pension income. Difficult to move around at times. I have used this product for many years and am pleased with how easy it is to use.

easy to use

have used this tax program for years
Everything goes well using this program but a word of advice. Be very careful and sure when you answer questions in your profile section. If you make a mistake without noticing and carry on into following steps, the incorrect answer may trigger a step or another question that will hold you up. This has happened to me where I had to go back and correct my profile answer but the later question still kept popping up as if I had not made the correction. You can go round and round and then it shows up at the end as an error at which time you have to press Ignore Error. That makes no sense. Would be better to be able to simply correct error the first time you realize you made it.

Some thoughts
This package does not guide you as how to prepare a Rights or Things return for a deceased person.
.
When net-filing is not available for a return printing us the only option, and you get a multitude of pages TOTALLY BLANK except for the form guide. Necessary???

Really helpful, with one caveat
I have been using TurboTax for many years, and it has saved me a lot of time and worry.
My one difficulty has been that if I accidentally create a new business or profession form in TurboTax, I can't find any way to delete it. I have to start over. Now, a TurboTax agent could probably help me with this, but I'm usually in too big a hurry! AND, it should be obvious and easy.
Even so, I've never considered NOT using TurboTax (and whatever it was called before the name changed to TurboTax)!

improvement Opportunity
The T-slip review pages show only the taxable amount entered, making them useless for checking the rest of what is entered, such as tax deducted. They should show all entries for that form.

Bug in TurboTax
After completing and filing your return, turbotax wants a review. that's okay but program just goes. in loop b..ack to the same review pages again and again. it never lets you exit the program. buggy program leads me to think I should look for another tax program.

Reliable over the years
I've used QuickTax, then TurboTax, for many years. This year I thought that all I needed was the Basic Version and bought it in a store. I quickly found out that I had to upgrade to Standard version in order to use the optimization features. That ended up costing me a few dollars more. So beware about purchasing TurboTax Basic.
As for TurboTax Standard, why so many redundant options as one completes the NETFILE process? The software offers Print options several times (what exactly might print we don't know), and comes back to Review options which were already dealt with.
