New good features
It was a snap to use autofill to start with all the basic forms this year. only needed to concentrate on gathering up deductions.

Did the job, with glitches
One minor glitch - when offered the option to delete either my form or my wife's, for some forms that I had erroneously indicated we had received (I had checked the wrong form as being applicable), I tried to delete both, not knowing that the option of reversing the error would come up much later. Instead of telling me that I could only delete one form, the program crashed completely, losing the data that I had entered in that session. It happened early in the session so there was not a lot of input lost, but basically had to start over and click through a bunch of forms to get to where I had left off, in addition to re-entering data. Not impressed.

I have been using Turbo-Tax for many years and this is the most user-friendly version to date. There was little need to use "Help" as most explanations on each new screen were clear. Even though I had share transactions, foreign dividends and other income, I found no need to upgrade to the Premium version.

difficult to use

script error
I have used turbo tax for at least 5 years and have never had a problem. This year I kept getting script error message. Tried to fix but no luck.
NOT easy to contact intuit to get help.

A Good Service
The interface on TurboTax was easy to follow, and it provided useful information through it's support service that made filing my taxes more simpler than I had imagined.
The program offers additional services that can help those who may require more assistance. Even its standard format offers enough help to go through the process without much time or confusion.

No CD Drive confusing
I am a longtime quicktax then turbotax user but this year I had a new computer without a CDdrive. when I went to the URL provided in the box, it was not clear how to choose between my download product and the online version of Standard. I accidentally chose online and did not know I was in the wrong place until I finished my return. I know it looked different but thought turbotax had just changed as so many of my programs have. I had to get help to get to the right place to download and then had to redo the whole return. I was not happy. Even looking at the page the URL in the box sent me to again, it was confusing. The URL www.turbotax.ca/download-2017 should not have had anything but the download products on it. Please fix this.

Capital Gains
During the Tips & Warnings TT offered to offset Cap gains with Cap losses from prior years. I tried this to check its worth but when I tried to go back to remove the entry, I had difficulty finding the location to do so (via Easy Step).

Good Purchase, Some Issues
I had a few problems with this software. I had to do them 3 times to get the correct results. There was no way to figure out what I had done wrong and I got really frustrated. I still don't know what I did right the last time but it worked.
After those issues it was quick to file my taxes and it went through no problems.

Good Product
I have used TurboTax for the past 7 years and will continue to use it in the future because of its ease of use. One issue I ran into with the auto-fill function was that it worked great for my return, but then it would not work for my spouse's return when our two returns were linked in TurboTax. I had to start a new and separate return for my spouse in order use the auto-fill function for her return. Therefore the optimization function between the two returns was not available since they were prepared as separate unlinked returns.

Expecting an improvement
Although it is now easier to file electronically, there is no option for filing electronically and getting the return by cheque.
The software is really poor about options for students, full time or other wise

each year it is a little bit better..
would be much better if an Apple version was available.
some calculated amounts are difficult to track. eg if a "high" income, you get no old age credit ($7225), but the income calculation is not displayed (it is done behind the scene correctly).

Very good
The only problem I had was with the optimizer for pension income splitting. I left the person blank and the optimizer didn't work and when i put my spouse as the splliter the optimizer did not say it should be me which was the best choice.

Turbo tax
Like the software. Used it for years. Did not noticed any Note icon to add personal tax information/specific details about a current tax year that could be editable and transferrable from a given tax year to the next.
Would also like to be able to use/switch Turbo tax either in French or English simply by clicking on a Language button in the navigating bar.

qualified help
I have used TT for years and found it useful. I do manually check several items and with disappointment discovered that the optimizers do not always recommend the best division of credits in joint filling. Manually iI got $1500 more in refund than they suggested.

claiming medical expenses
I found this section confusing to enter all the individual expenses, however, was happy when the last part showed we could enter one amount total for each individual. Made it easier, but we need a from and to date section instead of entering only one date.

Still a Good Product
I've been using TurboTax for many years and it continues to be a good product. Takes most of the work out of completing your tax return. Easy to follow steps makes entering information a breeze. Would like to see more guidance with some of the more difficult forms such as investments, capital gains, etc.

An annoying glitch
Good product, works well. One annoying quirk: after Netfiling, once you you get to the Thank you page, and click on No to start a new return - you get into an endless loop where you are constantly returned to Ready to File page. Irritating.
