Hard To Improve Near Perfect
Have used the product nearly consistently since its earliest incarnations. It instantly made it impossible to go back to pencil and calculator. Over the years it went through phases of being "over casual/cutesy" in it's display creating annoying navigation fog. However maturation has continued leaving a clean down-to-business step-through. CRA for its part has also continued to simplify and technically upgrade its NetFile experience. The import and auto filling of T-slips into Turbo could be improved further. Intuit's sales pitches using fear for add-on services are easy enough to ignore. If they added a simple import from a previous year's ONLINE turbo tax account or otherwise merged the two options into a single seamless online/off line product that would further the evolution of a near perfect product.

Script Errors that won't go away
I even called for a fix and it did not work. This has never happened before. Then when I tried to print the returns to mail to the CRA, there was not that option. I have to try many different things and then all of a sudden when I went back to that page for the twentieth time, they were there.

Used for many years
For the most part I am very happy with the product - a couple of areas of improvement that would be very much appreciated:
1. Allow screen prints (the "right-click" variety) it would be very helpful when you can't finish in one sitting or have to navigate around thru joint returns. Annoying to have to navigate between easy-step and forms and back, especially when doing joint returns.
2. Error trapping needed for schedules where things like GST/HST #'s are required but not input - right now you can forget to complete the form + Netfile it with no error or warnings in final review (ask me how I know!).

bug in software, unhelpful support
I was very pleased with the product until I encountered a bug. (in short, it involved HBP repayment and erroneously attributing RRSP money to my income). I spent an hour waiting for a TurboTax agent to call me back. When he did, Mr. Dan (that was the name he gave) was not helpful at all (and spoke very poorly - was really hard to understand him). He said that I had to uninstall, reinstall, and then reenter my tax return. I was supposed to hear back from his supervisor, but it has been about four hours and nothing yet. Apart from this unfortunate incident (my first time using the product), I enjoyed the experience using TurboTax.

Consistently comprehensive
Every year, TurboTax Standard reminds me of options I didn't even know I had. For the average Joe, it's virtually impossible to miss any deduction, expense, donation secondary income etc. It even double checks after the info entry is done. Well done Intuit.

Perfect for family returns
A little vague on the more esoteric cases (recent student permanently moving abroad), but otherwise straightforward. Help system looks really dated now (and the "help" isn't always that useful). General usability is great, but help system is long overdue an overhaul.

Continue Buttons
The blue buttons, such as 'continue' or add another T4 are not visible and constantly having to scroll down the page to get to them. New users might not even know they are there. Is there a way to decrease the font size so that on simple screens it is visible on the 1st screen? Would save a lot of time.

Great but some querks
Serious shortfall is the lack of a version for Mac! Great for the everyday return, slightly faulty when filing for a deceased person, ie, questions asked that are completely irrelevant! Overall though, worth the money!

Use it for Years
I give only 4 out of 5 Stars as there is alwas room for inprovement. Turbo Tax is easy to use and i use it for years. Turbo Tax was actually recomendet to me by some one who deals with tax returns on a profesional base. All the other programs are very simular but Turbo Tax is so easy to use. If you know how to read you can do your taxes with Turbo Tax.

Well Done
It used to take me all day to do my taxes. Now I do it in one sitting. By saving to my computer I save paper. Another saving is the postage. Well done.

Screen print size

Good tool, but...
I have used Turbotax (and it's predecessor, Quicktax) for nearly 20 years. It has been a reliable tool and met all my needs. However, I have discovered there are other options that are cheaper (e.g. free) that have features Turbotax is missing (such as multi-year tax comparisons).

Its still Turbotax
Its pretty much the same turbotax you've been using. It's usable enough and mostly does the work. But I don't have a complicated return so who knows if its good when you have a bunch of capital gains bullcrud. Maybe hire an accountant then if you have all that money?

Just quit the harassment
Good software but just quit the harassment on registering. We do not have to register and that's that. Ask us once only please then we can opt out. Stop asking every flipping time we open the software. Registering also means you will then bug us to renew each year so please stop pestering us with this registration crap.

Getting easier to use and smarter every year! The warnings and errors (that don't really apply to me) get a bit tedious sometimes, but I guess they have to make sure you haven't missed something. One small bug I noticed last year is still in there. By default, it assigns any income from joint accounts to the firsts person listed (e.g. for interest on a joint investment, it uses the first name listed by default); no problem. It could be some "catch" in the regulations, but when I try to re-allocate (between my partner and I) who claims any investment income on joint accounts, I can't change the primary "claimee" to 0% and the other to 100%. I have to leave it at something like 0.01% and put the other 99.9% on the second person listed(?). I spent a lot of time trying to figure that out last year. Fortunately this year I remembered after a few tries :). to be fair, I don't think I called their help line, but I did check the FAQ/online help.
