not printing causes problems
I really like the product, but when I am done and have saved my file, and sent it electronically, I can't start another file. It keeps popping up "save modified file". So I save it again, but I think it wants me to print the file, which I don't want to. So I have to exit out of turbo tax and reenter to complete other tax returns

Improvements...
I've noticed a few little improvements from 2016's version. Please, keep up this practice! There are still a few sentences and navigation tweeks that can be improved upon. But, as a whole, well done TurboTax Team!

Again submitted with Turbotax
I have used this software for over 10 years. The biggest issue I have is that there is a lot of repetition in filling in the medical forms. If you have a lot of prescriptions it is a pain. But overall I am happy with it.

Great Help
This is a very good tool to use to file your income tax. It helped filing as a couple, since we are both retired, and seems to optimize best scenarios to get the most back. I wish I could go in and out easier, and have more info on the coupling of returns, but there are lots of help options, as well.

Problems with software
After downloading my TurboTax software & trying to enter the profile information under "Forms" I found I could not do this.
I telephoned TurboTax Support & all they could recommend was to go into Easy Steps first & enter the profile information from there & then return to forms.
After I did this I still could not check off "Yes" or "No" on the three Government of Canada questions.
I finally did manage to work it out but with some frustration.

Good Purchase
However, there seemed to be a glitch in this years turbotax (2017) where every screen kept showing a message that a script error occured and it took several clicks onto either 'yes' or 'no' before it would clear and I could continue to work on the screen.
Never happened before (is it that it isn't as compatible with Windows 10?). Also had difficulty filing one of the returns because the online defense purchase wouldn't clear even though I clicked 'No Thanks". My son finally had to delete it.

Bit more confusing then 2016 version
My wife & I have been using Turbo Tax for the past number of years. We found this year's version good, but a bit more confusing then the 2016 version. Especially for trying to find a certain item. But still worth the money for sure.

Generally good
This product is generally a good tax prep program. I use the forms for data entry and often have a lot of the data available from my records before any official receipts or slips are available, so can get a head start on tax return preparation. I do have a couple of complaints, though. There is no option to set a prefered file save location - the product defaults to where ever Windows thinks fit. However, once a file has been saved to my choice of folder, it does remember the location. The other general complaint is that simply opening a file to review some of the content, with NO CHANGES made gets a message to save the changes which were not made. These two behaviours date right back to the days of QucikTax.
This year printing was a nightmare requiring the CD to be installed in order to complete the print - without any proper warning before starting to print. I have not experienced this in previous years.

File Names
The only problem I have with this software is that the file name isn't showing at the top of each page. When there are several files or scenarios, it's difficult to know which file I'm working with.

Great Value

Easy but display needs work
The program is relatively easy to navigate but the ribbons are too small to make them useful. The lower left forms boxes are nearly invisible and change to zoom made no difference. It makes it difficult to review individual forms.

I've had no trouble in the past except this year. Saved my pdf with my original content. Opened it at a later date and made changes. Saved over my original pdf. Closed program. Opened it again to send my taxes, and it only had my original one. I had to re-enter the changes I made again.

Turbo Tax
Good product. Easy to use. Quick filing. The Electronic Notice of Assessment didn't work and when trying to register the product on-line it kept crashing but ignoring that all worked well.

failure to automatically import last years data
2017 turbo tax failed to automatically import last years tax data.
Data had to be imported manually.
this is a major flaw compared with previous versions that did this automatically.
thus im only awarding 3 stars for ease of use.

GOOD BUT....
The software is good and does a good job on preparing the taxes. It tends to be a little unstable; does not open well and has refused for two years to go through the online registration process. Overall still a good product.

When applying pension Income Splitting, the Income summary page does not fairly or justly represent the actual new picture -
Especiilay when moms pension inclome goes up the amount as calculated by the optimizer (or by manual $$$ entry) and dads (the larger of the pension income) summary pension income nuber remains whole as if no splitting has occurred.
I have to think this is an error in the system OR I really don't fully understand the reasoning behind this.

Good, But...
I can't understand why some form details are hidden from the user. eg:Box 301 of Schedule 1 as one example. There is a number there that has been calculated by TurboTax. However I cannot click through to the form from which the number was derived. There are numerous others like that and I ended up with a Level 3 escalation last year because a Minimum Tax form was hidden from me. It makes no sense why each and every number filled in on TurboTax can't have details revealed to the user......
