Worked Easily Enough
- Overall, fantastic ... and yes, I have done it manually before at least 3 times
- No problems with any features
- Stock / Capital Gains features were adequate, as my stock activity was minimal (1 trade in 2017)
- Would have liked more stock field checking, for example, it uploaded the total sale price of my stock trade, but no the book value that I originally purchased it for, so my capital gain tax was overstated until I manually entered that number

Been using for years
Turbo tax has always been a reliable instrument to calculate and file our taxes. I will continue to use it.
Problems:
I could not figure out how to transfer our info from 2016 returns to our 2017 returns. I had to enter it myself.
It was very hard to figure out how to transfer my Quebec refund to my wife to cover her tax owing.
Please fix these problems for next year.

Do not interrupt
I installed TurboTax while Windows10 was being updated... bad idea!
The install failed and when I tried to reinstall, the previously loaded installer would not allow the program to load.
I ended up using a different computer and hope that 2018s installer will not conflict with this years multiple copoes.

Printing
I found the software easy to use. It gets a little better every year. The only thing I found a problem was that i could not print my CRA conformation number. It printed part of the page graphics) but not the number. It appeared not to be my printer.

Checks things over so nothing is missed.
Efile works great now. Only issue is the popup when you first start asking to download slips directly from CRA which is very hard to log into and you have to wait for a paper in the mail to log in. Have to close the popup to continue. Easier just to enter the paper slips in hand. Need to get rid of the popup.

Gets Job Done
Gets the job done. It wasn't clear on how to move back and forth through the information entering. I wanted to move back sections and forward sections but it was cumbersome and not easy. It should compare how tax rates have changed over the past 2 years and what your refund/tax bill would have been under previous years.

Makes life easier
Been using TurboTax Standard for many years as our household's collection of tax returns is straight-forward. There are some areas where more guidance would be useful (e.g. tuition transfer amounts), but I perhaps more expensive versions have this feedback.

Value Tax Software
I have found -- over the past 16 or so years -- that turbotax is the best tax software I have ever used. It is easy to use, value for the money, and Just like the CRA's paperwork ( if you prefer that).

minor fixes needed
When you list your individual medical receipts it should show all of them so you can review on paper not just a portion of them then a lump sum for the remainder. The complete T1 forms should be available from a button not having to use find in the forms section, so you can easily find line 236 of your spouses return required for your return. Other than that a very good program.

text box problems
Program itself works well and is intuitive.
Only problem is that some of the text boxes are not properly sized and the text box for registering online is too far to the top and left. It cannot be moved. Therefore it is impossible to register the product online.

Easy to use
I used to buy the Premier but I found that the Standard does what I need. easy to use. I like having the physical CD as well in case I every need to reinstall down the road.

Past versions better
I had to type in all my personal info for 2017. Past versions of Turbo Tax had imported this info from past returns to save time.

Feedback and Improvement

generally easy to use although I did have to go back a couple of times to get the pension splitting component to give me the best split between us. Also some of the warnings made no sense as we had already ticked off boxes that gave the answer!

Tired of the Up Selling
It does not matter what my tax situation or what version I purchase, Turbo Tax always recommends an upgrade. I only required Basic but purchased Standard because packages seemed to indicate that Basic did not import last years information.

Can't See Full Screen
I use TurboTax every year so I'm familiar with it.
The 2017 version is too big for my screen. The font is smaller than previous years, yet I can't see the whole form without scrolling over.

good product, been using for many years now
it is difficult to move onto creating a brand new Tax return for my uncle.....Keeps looping me through my tax return.....i need to be able to create a brand new tax return for my Uncle, however, i keep getting looped back to the screen to print and submit my tax return....however i have already completed these steps.....cheers

Easy to use
This is my 5th time for using Turbo Tax. Every year it
gets more complicated. I feel that there has been too
many unnecessary changes. The first and second times
were the easiest (2013 & 2014) As a beginner it was
easy to follow and there was a lot of encouragement.
Sometimes it is good to leave well enough alone...
if it isn't broke don't fix it.
Still a good way to do one's taxes

Good if you know what you are doing.
The software gets into a loop sometimes and you have to decide that you really have saved it even though it keeps asking you if you want to save your return after you go to somewhere else. There is no easy way to close it other than just x ing out.
