Great product
I have been filing my own taxes since I was 19 and have always found the process quick and easy with Turbo Tax. I would highly recommend to anyone with basic returns.

quick filing
Relatively easy to use
Have trouble finding same obscure deduction pretty much every year, wish it were a bit more helpful and compare previous year's deductions and ask if i'm claiming it again instead of having to search again and again
Love watching refund total climb, will buy again next year

Problems
The program locked up. It would not let me save a PDF. I had to start over and redo the tax return. Then I printed the forms and then saved file.. Now it keeps going back to that tax return when I ask to do a new one. Might have to turn off the program and restart

Excellent Tool

Print CRA copy to mail
I was not given an option to save a copy of my return to print at a later time to mail to CRA. The only option was to print it immediately. When a printer is not available/not working this is not acceptable

Program worked well except when you chose not to save a copy of my return at the end of the program, it loops back regardless and won't allow you to leave the program other than exit out.

Easy and quick
Fill in a few numbers and the program does the rest. Even moves info that stays the same year to year. click, its sent and I'm just waiting for my refund.

Optimizers
Optimizers for medical and donations did not work well.
In past years when you clicked on the person you wanted to have the deductions and then on optimize it did it. this year it did not. I had to make the changes manually and then save the file to have the changes show as they should.

Need to enable ctrl+f on window and A-Z recom
Overall very easy software to work with and for non complicated tax returns (those that only have T4 or T2202) it only takes an hour max to complete and review. Highly recommended.
However, if ctrl+f or search on screen was active would be even much easier. For example the A-Z recommendation page does not have search and it takes days to go through that list. Seriously!

Anxiety Quelled
This is the first time I tackled doing my taxes on my own. The program was simple and the look of the program is really professional yet welcoming. My only issue is that I had to restart the entire process over three times because my computer auto-loads my log in info into CRA and when it was uploading my husbands information, the site would launch and auto input my info and the tax program would say "not responding". I'd have to shut the whole thing down and start over. The first time I wasnt sure why it did that. The second time I caught on and disabled the auto-sign in and the third time I realized it auto-loaded my husbands info. So that made my hair turn gray and was very frustrating but other than that it was a very manageable experience and I will buy this program again next year.

Better every year
Since Intuit took over the Tu8rbo Tax program, e-mail notices make no references to Canadian tax matters - they are all about US forms and tax issues.
I hope they show more recognition of Canadian customers in the future.

Very good software
It is made to be easy, and it is so easy that reviewing becomes a bit repetitive as you have to scroll through many of the same pages again and again. But it definitely makes tax filing much simpler

It's a very conservative tax preparation program. I'd say it's the most streamlined version yet. It earned 4/5 for overall rating, as I was NOT able to submit a receipt for road construction.

Some of the text in the program is not clear. for example on the Ontario forms it asks for : "Home Energy costs - reserve" ... the dash is confusing and was misleading, the line should read "Home Energy costs paid if living on a reserve" ... there were also some grammatical errors around or / and ... pay someone who is not a programmer or accountant to proof read!

Pension Splitting
Don't ask for the 'amount to be split' until you get to the 'pension optimizer' page. In the beginning just ask if you will be splitting pension income, yes or no. By entering an amount early in the process it affects your total income column. Maybe it doesn't affect the bottom line, but it is disconcerting, and causes a lot of time wasted trying to figure out what is going on with your 'family income' when you know the total is not right.

turbo tax is worth it
very straightforward and quick to use. Not too fancy - exactly what you want for preparing taxes. Start to finish in well under an hour (I likely have average to slightly greater than average filing).

touch screen
I was disappointed when I found my touch screen capability worked fine on some screens and not on others . Is thia by design ? If so I question your logic. Your program is easy to use but tis feature is !!!

OK but was not able to use it in french
I bought a bilingual software but was not able to use it in french. I'm bilingual but it's a lot easier to work in my language that is french.
I had an error message all the time when using the sotware. But I was able to accomplish what I had to do.

PRINT FEATURES LESS THAN DESIRABLE
UNABLE TO PRINT INDIVIDUAL PAGES OR PRINT FROM HELP MENU EVEN THOUGH IT AS AN OPTION. WAS ABLE TO PRINT COPY OF RETURN WHEN FINALIZED.
PROMPED TO BUY UPGRADED VERSION WHEN "STANDARD" VERSION THAT I WAS USING COVERED EVERYTHING THAT I WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE.
"OPTIMIZER" PAGES WERE VALUABLE ASSET WHEN DOING COUPLES RETURNS WITH INCOME SPLITTING.

Had some glitches
I've used TurboTax for several years, and this was the worst version I have used. First of all the Autorun didn't work so I had to go into the program files to launch the installation. Every time I clicked on a button, I got a "Script Read" error message and had to click the mouse, sometimes several times, to be able to move on. Then, when I went to Autofill my tax slips it wouldn't connect me with CRA. Finally, I did a joint return with my wife, and a Fix for an error at the end in my wife's return kept sending me back to my information so I had to go into file mode and make the correction. Very frustrating.
