Software Difficult to Update
Archery Failure prevented uploading any updates. After reading the website and manually downloading an update, TurboTax refused to update without being uninstalled. After reinstalling the software, the update still would not load. It took several days of trying the update and waiting for a new patch in order for the software to work. This type of early release without proper testing is a prime example of poor project management and general managers who refuse to listen to their engineers.

Not as good as usual.
I have used TurboTax for many years and have found it easy to use.
This year I did not find it as easy as usual. If income splitting is not allowed, why does the software let you enter it?
I had a difficult time finding an override and getting rid of it. Finally after trying 4 times it worked.
I will continue to use TurboTax next year, but I hope the software is up to date with changing CRA guidelines and easy to use.

It works but anoying upsell
I've used the software for many years, and it really simplifies the process, but I find the attempts to upsell me with unnecessary reviews and "protection" rather annoying.

Turbo is a Great Software

rrsp optimizer
the only problem i really found is that the optimizer seems to not calculate for carry over to the next year and had me claiming more rrsp deductions for the current year then profitable. this is probably not a common consideration but would be nice to have. i have been using this program for years and it is nice to move info from previos years.

Never go back to paper
Turbo Tax is easy to use and more efficient than doing it by paper. The time saved from calculating and jumping back and forth between forms and guide is well worth the purchase of turbo tax. Quick easy help hints and keyword guide helps you better find what you're looking for!

Reliable and easy to use
We have been using Turbo Tax for the last few years. It's easy to use and it asks you basic questions to help you along the way. We've never had any issues with the program and it transmits to CRA easily! It makes filing our taxes easy! I like that!! As a busy mom, I need that!!

Gliches at the end
When I get to the end where it says do you want to start a new return and I click yes it automatically takes me back to the return that I just finished and keeps asking me to save it and I have already done that step over and over. I had to physically close the program and go back in.

thoughts
would like to be able to split the donations between spouses sometimes. wasn't a simple option.
would like to be able to print a form (e.g. donations or medical) with a left mouse click rather than the whole process.
got a bit fed up with constant reminders of "tax savings" available. most of them were not applicable to me
otherwise - I've been using this program for past 15-20 years -- since before it was ever Turbo Tax -- and for the price it's a wonderful simple tool for non complex returns.

charitable deductions
II am curious about why (in charitable donations box #046) under income credits, and later under a more detailed data entry system, titled "charitable deductions". Why is this topic seemingly duplicated ? it's confusing, which of the two is correct. I saw no explanation except for personal logical reasons, one must be more correct than the other. no explanation given which to use, one only or both. I had quite some time figuring this puzzle out. I called support service and they suggested one only, not both. experimented using both, the number crunching produced a duplication effect later in the overall process.

I am really bad at taxes and computers but this product has realty helped me with understanding my taxes and how to save money! It is a very easy to use product. The program will walk you through every step! I highly recommend this product to do taxes.

Good product
Nice and easy to use. Used easy-step which guided me through. Have used Turbo Tax for years and Quicktax prior. Found Netfile to be very useful and easy. Intend to continue to use the product in the future. I did find a few things that I question.
I found out when claiming medical expenses that I could enter the total of all receipts, however the program did not really explain how to do so. (called your helpline - very helpful)
When entering Manitoba tax credits and requesting school taxes paid, it did not explain if it is requesting the gross school taxes or the net (after $700 rebate).
Also I found the help screens to be a little less informative than in prior years.

Around and Around
This a a much better way of doing taxes than the old pencil, paper, and scratch head method however, I found that this year when asked if I wanted to start a new return, the program just kept kicking me back to the same place. (In Canada program is spelled programme!)

typing ease
Back in the old days of quicktax when you were typing in multiple claims (medical and donations) the program remembered your previous entries and autofilled words like dental, prescription, Dr.'s names etc. This was a real timesaver. Could you consider putting this feature into future programs?

Good purchase to Reducing Stress
I find after using Turbo Tax for a number of years it is becoming easier and easier to use. It is easy to use, has enough shortly worded tips screens to make steps clearer to go through. My return tied in flawlessly with Netfile. Adding my spouses return feels as if I am doing one filing. I only found one small glitch in the return was when I was adding medical receipts I started one receipt then a second one. Had to go back to the first but could not figure out how to go back to the second. It just went on to a third receipt. But that was minor. Otherwise a much stress reduced experience for taxes.
