would like a back button
Easy to use program. A couple of suggestions:
Add a "Back" button so that when I am several forms deep entering data I can back out rather than close and re-open forms.
When net filing spousal returns the refund amount is confusing. My spouse and I had a net refund . This net refund is displayed when net filing my (taxes owing) return. Either display my refund/owing or label it as a combined value.

Continuous Evolution
I have used this product for several years following years of filing with paper forms. The product becomes easier each year and exposes more key areas of the tax code through improved help features.

Need to Fix
The first choice when opening turbo tax should always be "transfer info from previous year". If not, there should be an option available to transfer information if you inadvertantly start a new return. If you are well into it before you realize that you should have transferred info from previous year as it currently is, the only options are to ignore the transfer or start all over.

Turbotax Is The Best
Since TurboTax was not available at the store I usually buy it, I purchased a different tax return. It was extremely hard to complete so I drove across town to find TurboTax. It was easy to follow and I was done in no time .TurboTax is the only way to go!

better than last year but still hard to see
I am visually impaired and last year I complained because this product was unusable for me. This year it worked with my touchscreen laptop to enlarge but it was still a little awkward and there were a few pop up windows that wouldnt enlarge. I am happy with the improvement though

Why pay an Accountant
TurboTax allows you to do your income tax and cover all the options at minimal cost. It can be a little awkward to use and you will need to know how our tax system works to master it but the learning curve is worth the $ you can save by doing it yourself.
The big return is it makes you aware of where your money goes. This means you can make changes in your future life style and investment choices. Thus, in future, you can apply what you have learned and keep more of it in your pocket rather passing it on to the government or a tax specialist.

Error Script Messages
I think it is horrible that your applications causes grief during the entry of information with annoying script errors.
I tried all suggested remedies with no avail. I even uninstalled and then reinstalled the application with no success. Very poor.

Easy Steps helpful and fun to use.

Title a bit misleading, but very good e-file setup
The software rates very easy to use, with many helpful hints and suggestions that pop up throughout completion.
I especially am impressed with the netfile function, and the optimizer functions. Although I am still unsure with regards to pension income splitting.
There is however a few possible improvements I would suggest: - the warnings received just before e-file, were not applicable to my spouse's return. Review that process and second, my spouse and I have quite simple returns. Yet it took me 6 hours to complete the filing for us. I did not have all the required information (previous tax assessments, CRA account info etc.) that I required. That is my responsibility, but I sure could use a reminder each year, when I first install turbotax, that "these are the documents/info required" before starting your return. Otherwise, a great piece of software, keep up the good work.

Frustrated this year
I've been using TurboTax and its predecessor for at least 15 years, and this year provided the first occasion of massive frustration. On my computer, running Windows 7, the software would not run properly because the Visual C++ platform would not install properly. Eventually, I could only use it by borrowing someone else's computer, not my first choice for doing my taxes.

Returning Customer
Hi, I find this years TurboTax Standard not has friendly as in the past years. The main issue I was having was trying to see both returns myself and spouses at the same time and navigating around to find different entries without using the "back" button!
I am still pleased with the overall product just a little confusing this year.

Good purchase
We have used this product since they took over TurboTax. It is easy to use, using either entry method. We only have two taxpayers over the limit so I do the taxes for some friends as well. They like to print and mail so that is what I do for them and we do ours using Netfile.

Gets better every year

Needs the following improvements
1. Ability to copy and paste from electronic documents. EG, I downloaded a statement and could not copy and paste. also i had a spreadsheet for my medical espenses to just add my totals and could not copy and paste.
2. I had a lot of scrypt errors.

Medical expenses
Optimize medical expenses does not work as designed because spouse income was too low. After switching medical to spouse our combined refund was actually lower than claiming under the higher income.
Filer needs to try different scenarios to determine what is best for them.

Not so Turbo
The name doesn't fit this product for Quebec users since we must file federal and provincial returns. It is not as user friendly as another version of a product I used in the past for taxes. Probably great in other provinces but not as helpful or easy to use in Quebec.

Could be made easier
Lived in Ontario and worked in Quebec. The TurboTax software made it confusing to fill in the RL-1 as it auto-generated one partly filled out and it looked as if it was the T4 I had just entered. It would have been much easier to let us fill in the forms ourselves and do its thing in the background. Sometimes, wanting to do too much is counter-productive.

Confusion with Donations
Overall, TurboTax is still very good, but I ran into two issues. (1) If you have already entered your data by hand, then do not use the auto-fill tool. It will duplicate what you have already entered yourself. There should be a warning about this. (2) I spent a lot of unnecessary time trying to figure out the impact of claiming donations between myself and my spouse. When I switched the donations from my donation receipt form to that of my spouse there was no change in the outcomes of either return, which made me think there was a problem with the software. After considerable research, I discovered another form called DON with a checkbox where you select which return the donations are credited to. Adding to the confusion was an explanation from TurboTax stating that donations are a tax credit and if you are getting a refund, then adding more tax credits is a waste (I still don't understand this). PLEASE ADD THE CHECK BOX FOR WHO CLAIMS DONATIONS TO THE DONATIONS RECEIPT FORM!

T00 Many Options
I purchased the Std.Online Edition.It was a nightmare to follow and USE.I spent about 12 hours over a week ,and,finally succumbed to the fact that I would never get it done.Two days before the last day to file,I went to Staples for the "Disc Version",also,standard.I had help in getting it started,but,then all went O.K.------except that somehow my CPP entry went in 3 times !!!!Please make the instructions as clear and simple as you can.Many thanks
