Pretty easy but used to be more clear
Basically a good program but i feel like it was more clear a few years ago. Some of the questions are poorly worded (e.g. I don't want to direct deposit or my direct deposit hasn't changed) - I have used this program for 15 years - it knows I have done direct deposit. Some of the optimizers aren't as clear as they used to be and seemed to generate an override error. Still beats doing it by hand but could be better.

Tax filing made easy
This software allows you to create multiple version of your tax filing if you want to "optimize" your taxes manually or just let the interactive steps do if for you.

Used it for many years
I have used Turbo Tax for many years for myself and 6 other family members and it does a good job. However, I find it heard to use any of the "questions" that other users had or the "answers" others gave because they have usually been way off topic for me. Further I don't like the update every time I use the software and the fact that Turbo Tax doesn't say what the update is fixing. It worries me that there may have been a change that could have affected a return that I already filed. Could it be that TT was just adding more users answers to questions? Why should I follow another general taxpayers answers, why aren't the questions answered by the experts?

Great Product
I have used Turbo Tax for many many years and am very pleased with it. I like the updates it makes every year to help make things easier. My only problem this year was with my Industry Code. Apparently I couldn't use the one had before and it wasn't easy to find a new code.
Nevertheless, I highly recommend using this program.

Very good purchase

Have always used
I have always used turbo tax. However, you need to make adjustments, in most cases I am sure that the address of the person and where they pay rent or property taxes are the same, having to enter it twice is a pain. There has to be something you can install that will pre-populate the field when you get there.

One Problem
Although I really like this product, there is one problem. My husband and I are a farm partnership, taking part in several programs which require us to each have a PIN number. When printing the forms, my husbands PIN numbers are accurate, my forms have my husbands numbers. No matter how often I change and save my numbers, they always revert back to his! This is very inconvenient!!

Ability to Print Summaries
Very disappointed that I was not able to print the Summaries. Using printed versions is an important part of reviewing my tax return before filing. They are also an important part of my tax planning for next year.

Great bang for your buck
Great program. Highly recommend for any level of user as Turbo Tax is very user friendly and it walks you through the whole process. Great Product well worth the money and the time. Something you will want to tell your friends about. Makes Tax time a breeze.

Form T1135 very poor
Turbo tax needs to improve the use of this form and the associated help files. Basically useless.. I received an error message on the form that I could not seem to correct?? and no help. The form was filled in correctly, but still getting the error message. Also it appears that in one location, turbo tax says you must mail in this form, yet when you are in the net file option, it says you can netfile the form?? So it is really confusing as to which is the correct option. Ended up manually filling in the form and mailing to CRA

Disappointed relative to last year. Program no longer allows transfer of info to spouses return for rental property info - it is a pain to fill in the same data twice for each rental property.
Also don't think all the warnings and fixes are always right.

Problem
In mid April I had a problem with my daughter's return and called. File #424066294. I haven't heard back as of yet -April 25.
I continued to review the return and went through the Set Up section and the problem got resolved.
I should have at least got a call back!

Everything is good, but this year the netfiling for RQ is VERY weird and not intuitive. I almost missed it and I had to go to help to learn how to do it right.
Never had this before.

Gets the job done
I have used it for several years but this year I got a new computer. I am NOT computer savvy and managed to do the usual 4 returns. Every one of them, had a recommendation of buying another version of the software. Don't bother with the upsell!

Joint Returns
Overall the program is good, however when filing a joint return with your partner the optimization of benefits such as medical claims automatically gives the benefit to the lower income partner which is not always the best. You need to check both individually and manually select the best option as it was in my situation

Error in help screen
Generally easy to use but some of the help screens could use some extra info or examples. There is an error in the help screen for Ontario energy / Property tax credit, it refers to tax year 2015 vs 2016.
Maybe add a button "Examples" in the help screen and put some examples in that could help

hbp repayment
everything was good except when I filed to revenue Quebec , there was an error and I have to figure out how to redo it. just about to give up until I called back turbo tax customer service and they were very helpful to help me out to figure out what went wrong. Melanie was so patient and was able to figure out what went wrong and did redo some number and have it fix. Was able to resend it and got accepted. Thank you so much for helping me out in my filing. It made my day more easier.

Good software
Fairly easy to use, lots of help features if you get lost. Need to fix the annoying script error. Even after following instructions turn off debugging the error continued.

a couple of points
- the dependant area is still confusing in some aspects, such as asking to confirm income is zero, will the dependent could have income from OAS which was entered previous steps, and that it suggested as tips to pick the one with the lowest income implying income does not have to be zero and yet it was prompt to confirm if one is to file for dependency (such as parents) claim
- error shows up if PO box is entered, and therefore leaving the street and number field empty, even though in PO box case, the street and number don't apply

Good value for the money
If possible, it would be nice to have look-up tables on countries with which Canada has Tax Treaty Agreements, including the kind of income qualifying under such treaties.

Good except..
I have used TurboTax for many years and have found it to be 4 star in all categories. My one complaint is that when I go to print my return, before Netfiling it, TurboTax asks if I wanna close pages within the Return that have no entries on them. I check yes, but then when I print the return I get a HUGE number of pages printed with no entries on them.
Wish it would only print the pages with entries, to save paper and ink!
