Would have been 5 stars across the board except one of my parents died so I could not do joint return and had to do separate returns which asked for info from the other spouse's form and vice versa so had to go back and forth closing and opening returns and recalculating who should claim what.

Extras I would like to see
I have used Turbo Tax and prior to that Quick Tax for many years, and I will continue to do so. One aspect of it that would be nice to see is a direct link to the CRA information website for clarification of things. For example, when and how is an OAS clawback activated? Or who has to claim child care expenses? A direct link to the CRA information sheets would help greatly with understanding why some things happen automatically in the Turbo Tax software.

Error appears after update
I updated Turbotax today and repeatedly get a script error message, "Automation server can't create object", line 4, char 2. Then it asks whether to continue using this page or not. Whether I click on yes or no, the error message keeps coming up.

printing is difficult
When printing i have to reinsert the cd that I purchased, I should be able to print and not have to worry about having the cd in my drive. This would make things more helpful and efficient.

Glitches
I was frustrated when I tried to print some of the data. It asked me to select a printer, so I clicked on that and was able to find the printer that is connected to my computer, then I selected it as directed but it would not appear in the printers window so I could not print to it. This happened several times . . .

Easy touse, but expensive for one return
Purchased TurboTax Standard to file my return, however the price is high considering that I did one return. Will be great to have a that the same featured packaged for less. e.g. 2 returns vs. 8 at a lower price.

My go-to tax software
I've been using this product for years and always come back to it. I use the forms method to enter my data rather than the guided approach as I'm very familiar with my tax situation.
They are getting somewhat aggressive about promoting other products WITHIN the program which I don't care for, but it hasn't reached obnoxious levels yet.

Happy but Mac only onlinge
I am happy with software, easy to complete and file. But will not use in future, as moving to a Mac and I do not want to use online version, and will lose all my historic PC returns (have to keep paper). Will probably do on paper next year.

Some suggestions for improvement
Overall the program was very easy to use and extremely helpful. However, I found myself stumbling in a few areas which I think might be improved later. 1. Charitable donations or other deductions: I discovered at my income level that I didn't actually need to use all my charitable donations to reduce my tax to 0. It would have been nice to have some kind of indicator built in to help me know how much I could hold back in my various deduction amounts instead of having to experiment by removing items piece by piece. I wasn't sure if the charitable giving optimiser would help this issue or not so I didn't use it. 2. I found that it was unclear which specific items to include in the medical expenses vs. the Northern Residence forms. The help file did not help me to know which particular expenses would be best to enter on either form. When I phoned the Intuit help line the customer service rep. seemed equally unable to come to a ready answer to this problem.

Disappointed not able to increase font size in "forms" mode. Also very difficult to see the light blue on white fonts that are used when TurboTax is first opened onto the computer. I am a senior and my eyes struggle see what my options are. Hope you will change this for next year!

Easy, inexpensive, but two irritating quirks
I've done my CRA filing for years using Turbo Tax (or its predecessor), and find the program easy to use, a good value and accurate. I've never had any problems with CRA related to filing. However, it has a couple of irritating quirks: (1) The T1135 form provides no means for entering more that three foreign corporations, so is inadequate for my needs. (2) Printing a draft copy of the return to review with my accountant or a copy of the T1135 to mail, that these count as filing my return (and thus reduce the number of uses), even though I have not filed. Otherwise, an excellent program.

Hi folks at Intuit. Turbo works well but you still haven't fixed the problem with Northern Residents deduction which prevents you from overriding the basic northern residency deduction. It can be to a household tax advantage for one person to claim both basic and additional amounts but the person who isn't claiming residency may still be eligible and wanting to claim travel benefits. With Turbo you can enter residency dates of Jan 1 to Jan 1 and it will fix the residency deduction BUT it also draws a CRA question about eligibility for the Travel Benefit..the only answer is to explain the shortcoming in Turbo...This isn't speculative..it has happened to family.

TurboTaxCouldnt update
I did find, after searching the help files, a link which allowed me to download an updated standard version. I could not recommend this product, which I bought in February, was updated at that time, normally, and than failed in mid April. I required more technical sophistication than most of my friends, hence wouldn't recommend it to them..

Text too light
Turbo Tax is a great program known for its ease of use, so I really don't understand why Turbo Tax insists on using light gray text instead of black.
If you have trouble reading gray text, you may want to consider looking at another tax program.
