Interesting
Works pretty good. I have been using TurboTax since it started so I guess that says something. Last year's info would not transfer this time which was frustrating. Also there needs to be a question at the end asking if Direct Deposit is already set up as the program insisted I do it but it was done already. Just a few glitches that would make it a little better.

too much repeated entries
While overall this is a great product it would be very helpful if it maintained a database of one's names and medical service providers so that data does not have to be entered into every single entry when compiling the medical expenses report forms. For those of us who have large claims takes a lot of time and can result in data entry errors.

Good, but issue w/ RRSP entries
I made the same comments last year, and in previous years... great software, but if I state that I have an RRSP deduction at the beginning of the questionnaire, let me put the info in! I (again) had to go to the end of the process and backtrack to get a place to enter the info needed. PLEASE fix this for next year!

Easy

Better than paying an accountant
The product takes awhile to fill out but still better than paying an accountant. The government automatically reviews your taxes within a year anyways for errors and miscalculations. accountants can make errors as well, as they are human also. might as well save the money.

Turbo TaX Standard
Purchased the Online version but could not import previous years data, need to purchase the standard download. Intuit did not provide refund for Online version, even though their website indicate the online version could import.

Problem with Disabiloity Amount
I had a difficult time with the disability amount. Due to my claiming more than $10 000 in attendant care costs as medical expenses, I cannot claim the disability amount. Yet when I truthfully answer the questions on the worksheet it automatically includes this amount. If I override it, I am warned that I cannot use netfile. So I had to change my responses on the worksheet to force the program to allow me to not include the disability amount.

Acceptable tax software
Confusing/incorrect direct deposit instructions. Advised to enter banking information for direct deposit during data entry. Then after printing return for mail in, printed instructions advised to go to CRA website and fill in CRA form and attach void check.

I have used this software and it's predecessors since 1988. Technically it works fine. The only irritant was that it now sums actual dividends, taxable dividends and dividend tax credit into one number and displays that, which can cause one to be startled and go back to recheck entries.
The major irritant was that EVERY time I opened a return i got a pop up window asking me to use intuit to download all my data from CRA. EVERY time I had to close it. I called the help desk to ask how it could be stopped and I could barely understand the representative and he CERTAINLY had no clue what I was talking about and I eventually hung up after he put me on hold for the 10th time to ask someone else something.

Worked okay with Vista, I hope
I did not realise when I purchased TurboTax that it might not be fully functional with Windows Vista. I am not aware of any problems, so I hope it worked properly.

Improve the Review process
The Tax Saving Opportunities, Smart Tips and Warnings are tedious and are almost always not relevant. An effort should be made to fix/streamline. In addition generic items like TFSA reminders and the acceptable tax years for Netfiling could be left out or moved to a non-manadatory place.

Turbotax Standard 2016
Thank you for your product. It certainly makes filing taxes much easier.
However the changes to the software this year made it more complicated than previous years which were much easier to understand and work with. Please consider that not all people who work with tax softwares are familier with tax and legal terms.

Easy and quick to use. The online survey at the end did not complete, as I tried to go back on browser and page wouldn't display. Survey was claimed to be short, but I found it to be quite long.

Best Program for Taxes
I thought I'd try another program this year (begins with U) but I found it too vague. I returned to Turbo Tax and found it to be much easier. Just need to add all the medical receipts, even though the warnings say you're "wasting" them as the refund does keep increasing. I know you can change the dates but sometimes that's not the best thing to do.

Dual entries
When completing two taxes returns (one with spouse), it would be nice if it separated out the total to the individuals. it would make moving deduction decisions easier as the people go thru the returns.

Great Product, Dated GUI
The product is great because it makes filling taxes simple and easy, with a high degree of confidence on getting the maximum refund possible. I just wish that the GUI would be as good as the rest of the product. Some of the simulation tools look ugly or just don't work, the GUI looks a bit dated and in displays with high screen resolution the text is so small that it is very hard to read without zooming in. At the end what counts is filling the return in a simple and easy way, and that is where TurboTax excels!

Overall good product with the option of the easier step by step method.
I prefer to first have my paper copies in order then go to slips and forms of turbo. Good help index and search for slips and forms. Help that matches the line number and form you are working on.
Of course, the turbotax advantage for me is that I only imput numbers and TurboTax does the math and reviews the final figures with suggestions...
I may still make a mistake here but it usually a minor one.

So Easy!
Turbo Tax takes both the pain (mostly, lol) and guesswork out of doing your taxes every year. I've used it for a number of years now and love how it auto populates with all our profile information and any carried-over amounts from the previous year. The Easy Step input method makes it hard to forget a deduction too, though you can choose to use the forms if you prefer. See you again next year TT!

Import feature needs work
I was surprised to find that the import overrites previous content with blanks even if you click on the trash can to omit a particular item from the import list.
That's not the way it should work. If it is omitted from the list then it should not download anything for that item, not even blanks, and leave your previous content intact.

Easy to use but a little buggy
Was warning me about a override I was using but I had not. Override tool did not show an override and automatic override clearing did not work. Had to close and restart the software to resolve.

Usually Easy - 1st yr loading issues
I would have given this product a 9/10 (for use) or use and installation ease (in the past!).
BUT, it took me an HOUR to load as there were some error issues.
I tried Reloading the program, and it didn't work.
I had to uninstall the program and reinstall.
This took a few tries and wasted an hour of my time.
WHEN it loads, its less than an hour to enter data if you have a basic return.
My Mom even uses this and she is 76.
Of course,I load the program for her but she loves using it.
There ARE free versions of programs online or offered from different companies.
I would give this product a 6 or 7 out of 10 due to the error issues I encountered.
Hope this improves next year, I am considering using a different program....
