Reliable but glitchy
I have bought and used turbo tax for years because it is a reliable & value added program. This year was no different until mid March when it stopped downloading updates. I had to download & install a patch from the turbo tax website to be able to finish my taxes and net-file them. Ray

Easy to Use
Step by step instructions make this very product easy to navigate. I appreciated the contents on the left hand of the screen when I needed to go back and confirm information. Help section explains information if you are unsure.

Re: ease of use
In the past I found TurboTax easy to use and could do our taxes fairly quickly. But during the past 2 0r 3 years I was finding the software a little less user-friendly. This year I found to be more difficult. Is it the software (or me?), or is it because Canada's Income Tax system is more complicated than ever? I have always done our taxes (we're retired now), but I feel that now I could not complete a tax return without using some kind of software. Even with TurboTax, the forms have become so complex. Deliberately designed so? I wonder. Even so, I will look for TurboTax next year. Thanks!

can't remember when I haven't used turbo tax - or intuit as it was originally called.
I have gotten lost once or twice but it is not difficult to get back on track. I like the ease of the easy step index to move from one area to another and the accessibility of the forms

A Useful Way to do Taxes
I have been using this program for years. It has improved greatly. Still needs improvement on inputting method for similar medical expense information and how to use the T5008 and T5013. These forms can have non-standard boxes or more than one of the same box in different currencies which makes input difficult to know how to report the information. The Help screens for these forms are not very helpful. Better warning notices should be programmed in so that if you use the T5008 you should be warned not fill in the same information in the capital gains section. One last thing is that the program does not automatically save like most apps currently do on your phone or tablet. Don't delay in doing a save frequently. Otherwise it is a good way to complete your annual taxes.

Good Deal
I know you can get free Canada Income Tax Returns online, BUT I would not touch them with a 10 foot pole. Completely trust Turbo Tax and have had good service with questions.

Exactly what I need

Liked the link to autofill T4 info and 'quick' download. Seemed like a good idea but it probably would have been less time spent to manually enter the numbers.
There was some fiddling required with CRA access and it forced me to use Explorer. But other than that not bad.

Every year Turbo Tax Emails a number to open that years forms. Problem is I am out of the country until April and never get the email. I always have to call to get it. Just give me the option of when I would like to receive the key.

Excellent System
Optimizers on charitable donations, medical expenses and pension income splitting are excellent.
My main complaints are with the help feature and searching therein. Quite difficult to find mileage and other travel expenses for medical expenditures. New deductions for seniors re making home more accessible are difficult to find by a search.

2016 Issues
this year (2016) I had problems with software freezing for days at a time... not allowing entry or change to information. Finally uninstalled everything connected with Turbo Tax and re-installed 2016 software.... Worked better but still spit out inappropriate printing errors... Error messages ignored & printing worked fine...
Perhaps the disc I purchased was faulty...
I did finally get info entered and tax forms printed.
Remains to be seen if any errors noted by CRA related to software.
Used Turbo Tax for more than 5 years-no problems!

I have used TurboTax since 2009, and I found this 2016 version of TurboTax to be much improved. However, I would like to see the taxpayer's name appear on the left sidebar when in the review phase. This would be especially helpful if you are preparing returns for both spouses.

Problems
We had a problem entering our information from T5008. It did not allow us to split the values into 50% each.
In addition, interest and carrying charges once again had to be split manually into 50% between spouses.
