Easy way to do Canadian taxes
As a new arrival in Canada in 2015, we needed an easy way to do our taxes, and Turbotax fit the bill. Being first time filers in Canada, Turbotax walked us through everything, and made the process as painless as filing taxes can be.
We also use the US version for our US taxes (we are required to file in the US also) - and the only thing missing in the Canadian version, is that the summary in the Canada version does not tell you where to send the finished returns, as the US version does. One star deducted in the overall rating for this.

Works well. When Net filing is completed the program should take you to the screen that allows you to print the return instead of taking you back to the first Netfile screen. It's a bit ambiguous as to what to do. Taking you forward instead of taking you back would be a clearer direction.
Otherwise the program is great.

A wish
I've enjoyed using this program for many years now. My one wish is that you could just print the short summary that shows how much you owe or get back. I already save the PDF entire return but just don't want to print all that paper, just the short summary.

the last screen
The last screen which I need to save my husband and my info as PDF files is confusing. In the end I recognize I need to choose individual name to continue the PDF file saving. And back again to choose another name...then back again to choose "done with filing"....the instruction is not very clear.

A Good Investment
Been using this product for several years. My personal views are as follows:
1 - It is still a bit expensive
2 - Very Good Program
3 - Still needs to evolve, specially when navigating between forms
4 - When finished with all data input, the program still comes back with many redundant queries
5 - Overall a Good Program & getting better each year
6 - A Good Investment - it teaches one to self-file your own taxes, saves time and money and above-all maintain your confidentiality

Different this year
Have used it for years, and every year the "look" changes. You just get used to where to find everything and then they move stuff around and you have to get used to the new format. Many of the commands are hidden and have to be "discovered", like hitting F10 to print an open form. This year, I had to print a "copy to mail" since my wife had recently died, but the "printed copy to mail" still had the watermark: "Duplicate. Do not send by mail." emblazoned on the first four pages! That's a glitch that needs to be fixed. Otherwise, it seems to cover everything and the text has become a lot more friendly and informal.

Common issues every year
Generally I appreciate TurboTax. Two issues that annoy me every year and I wish vendor would make these revisions.
User cannot have Help open at the same time as the application. Therefore, reading the instructions cannot be done in conjunction with looking at the actual product screens.
The input screens for donations, receipts, T-slips etc. is very limiting and not a helpful way to input data.

Reliable Software
The only thing I found lacking about the program was that I had to try and get my stubby fingers to fit on the scroll bar instead of being able to just scroll the form from anywhere on the screen. Otherwise I am quite satisfied with the program. I have used it for about ten (10) years.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
The Good thing about 2015 TurboTax is its relative ease of use and the warnings when you have omitted an answer or opportunity.
The Bad is how it continually asks you to save your changes, when you have made no changes and this plants a doubt in your mind.
The Ugly is how TWO additional returns costs more than the original EIGHT. It should be pro-rated, there is no justification for the inflated cost

Help is there!
Had trouble with final steps of sending in my info for this year. I called Turbo Tax help line and was assisted through all the final steps needed to figure out that it was on my end (our computer). Finally done for this year!

My favorite - Turbotax
I have been using turbo tax for the last 8/9 years. Although I find it quite easy to follow, I have a struggle every year with one part of medical payments, both locating the forms and how (where) to make the entry. Somehow, I manage to muddle through it. two weeks, with pretty much nothing else using my time, It's done!I have tried twice to send it NET_FILE,so far not done..I will sign off here before I lose this for the 3rd time.
