Wish I Could Use It More
Very straightforward, self-explanatory and complete. No complaints at all. There is no excuse for the average taxpayer to run off to a tax preparation service. It's just not that hard to do it yourself with TurboTax.

Better Alternative
I'd purchased another brand of the 2013 software 2 years ago but a computer issue wiped it off my laptop. When a friend needed to get their 2013 taxes filed I tried this week to reinstall the download it wouldn't connect to their server. I sent an email to them which wasn't answered. I tried also to contact them by phone but that too was unsuccessful.
I finally went online to Turbo Tax and within minutes had a downloaded copy of the 2013 software. Dealing with TurboTax is definitely a better alternative.

I like the program but as a seasoned user the standard program does not carry forward automaticly capital loss had same issue last year teck support corrected problem last year 2014 but I had the same issue this year if you use the step program it does ask you if you want to carry forward capital losses please correct his issue

take the headache out of taxes
I've been using TurboTax for 7 or 8 years now. I love it! It makes doing taxes a breeze, especially spousal returns. Saves time and I don't have to worry about adding wrong or that I missed something.

Getting better
I have used both Canadian and US tax software for many years. The US tax code can be arduous and without TurboTax it would be a nightmare. Thus the US version needed to be highly refined and very usable for some time. Now the Canadian version is catching up in terms of good organization, logical sequencing and ease of use. Good job!

Almost stress-free
Turbo-tax is designed in such as way that users receive useful guidance at every stage. This reduces confusion, and I found the whole filing experience almost stress-free. That is very important to me.

Cut tax prep time in half for spouse returns
Had some "catching up" to do and found this made it much easier to slog through the returns for multiple years, especially for both my husband and I. Only suggestion would be to add an option to the medical expense and charitable entries to allow you to add the entries to the next year instead and transfer data automatically. I had to delete each entry manually and enter these twice when it didn't work out the first year I entered them for.

Did its job well
I had a number of glitches which required re-entry of data I had entered correctly and were there but went missing later. a number of the check boxes when checked showed no indication that they had been selected however after moving the cursor away to another location, the "X" would appear. Rather frustrating when one is under tension just answering all the questions.
Aside from that the program delivered!

Overall pretty easy to use, everything explained well with good examples given. But I could not for the life of me figure out how to netfile. And when I tried to check my flags, I found no flags to check I don't know where they are. When I tried to phone tech support, there was not a number to be found . Not on package, not online at website, not even google.

One change that I would recommend is to be able to choose both/all children when entering the child care expenses. Our receipt from the daycare is one grand total for both children so it's difficult to enter an accurate amount for each individual child.

Could Use Improvements
Summary on left of screen should be broken down when working on a married couples returns, showing the situtions for each individual rather than the combined result. One may owe money and the other be getting a refund. The one owing needs to file on time to avoid penalty. Better to know this as you are working thru the interview rather than at the end.

The support staff are excellent.
The support staff is excellent. They are extremely patient and non-judgemental with one who has limitations in their know-how computer skills. When totally lost, they took me by the hand and walked me through the process easily. Most appreciated. The program within a short time is easy to use and to manoever around any questions that come up. It's a relief not to have to do manual calculations and to figure where to put the info. I high 5 this product.

Printing at end of Work sheet
There are too many pages asking if one wants to print or safe the document as PDF at the last three pages of the work sheet. The question should only be asked at the end of the work sheet as it was last year.
By asking if I wanted to print or save the document earlier on in the process it makes me wonder if all the information is recorded if I saved and printed the document before futher information is added.
IMHO
There should only be the option to save and print at the end of the filing process.

Good but not cheap
This software is versatile and quite comprehensive, good for the novice and the regular user. It has been creeping up in price as do all intuit products and there are good products out there for less or even free so one gets the impression that Turbo Tax is trying to push the edges on value.

Family Tax Cut needs improvement
Overall good, but would be nice if TurboTax would just analyze a couples returns automatically and tell what the best options are to get the most back instead of forcing options to be picked on who to apply what to. Hoping it is just because govt was late in the implementation.

NEEDS WORK

Improvements
Charitable and medical claim optimizer should have an easy way of transferring between spouses. I had to find the form and select it.
Also, Home Buyer's Repayment plan should be in the T-slips section. Reading the actual tax forms was a bit confusing.

Simple and effective but...
The only nit this program has, is in entering phone numbers and dates. It requires that you enter them in exactly the way it wants and not in the style more readily used elsewhere. I.e. (###) ###-#### vs. ###-###-#### and ##/##/#### vs ##-##-####.

Almost there
The 2014 edition of Turbo Tax is easy to use and helpful as ever.
The part that was most "Turbo" was the new ability to scale the fonts on the screen just the way you can in any browser. Much easier to read. Hooray.
The "Taxing" parts were the inability to use the mouse to cut and paste information and dialogue box contextual help. I noticed this in Date input areas and address fields. The program was telling my that my place of residence address was incorrectly entered but help did not tell me what the proper format should be. Each entry field should provide additional info or guidance when clicked.
Overall though the program is a dream I've been using it and wintax for decades and will continue to.

Working With 2 Returns
I found it very difficult to pull info from my wives return to enter into mine. I had to close mine then open hers, then once I found what I needed, I then had to close her and open mine. Very difficult to work with, you should be able to open 2 returns at once like any other computer program.

Great Value
Using TurboTax is much easier than doing the return by hand, the way I used to do it years ago.
