Consistently Good
Good value, although support for the Standard Edition should include access to an advisor. Given the competition in tax preparation software and companies I would think this is something you should seriously consider to keep long time customers

I am a long time user of TurboTax (& QuickTax before). In the last 2 or 3 years I had finally gotten comfortable with the 'interview method'. I found the 2014 version very uncomfortable to use compared to older versions. So, I had to go back to using the forms for some of the return to ensure I knew what was going on.
But, I must say the NetFile process is very slick in 2014 compared to the old cumbersome process. Well done!

Tune it up

Your question concerning direct deposit is confusing. You should have one subject per question, do not put multiple questions for one check area.
The input area for prepaid tax installments is hard to see. Please make more clear. Should also say enter total amount paid for the year, not monthly installments. This should

A Good Tax Package
TurboTax is much improved. The "Find" feature makes it easy to navigate around the package. The Filing feature is dramatically improved (streamlined). There are some improvements in the wording that make it easier to avoid errors.

Mostly great!
Been using TurboTax for a few years now...used Home & Business for 4 years, this is my first year with Standard. I am very pleased with the things that this more basic version covers (as I closed my home business and didn't need the bigger version anymore). The only thing I could recommend is to have better "Guide Me" section for student related deductions and optimization for spouse transfers.

Miss the old versions
I miss the old version that let me prepare and efile 5 returns, including 2 for closest family friends. Hate having to waste trees and toner to print those last 2 returns, and having those seniors go downtown to file those dead tree copies. Otherwise very easy program, does a great job.

Spousal-Combined refund/balance owing
Enjoyed using the new side bar but did not like the combined refund/balance owing for spousal returns.
The one amount is confusing and deceiving. Separate amounts for each spouse would be more useful.

print options
I would like the option of printing just the return summary. It was not clear what would print when I selected print Federal Return and as a result I printed far too many unnecessary pages, wasting ink and paper.

Easy
Good way of doing taxes if you don't have and accounting degree.
One addition to the program that I might recommend is a thorough explanation of each step in tax deduction process (a laymen's dictionary to taxes if you will). I would be nice to have some educational amusement while fulfilling the annual fiscal responsibility.

improvements suggested

student tranfer amounts
I liked the product but was really confused with the student tuition transfer amounts. I think extra help is needed in this section, perhaps a definition? There is no clear link between student file and parent file. We had to use Google to find out a definition to understand how it worked still not clear.

Great!
I find TurboTax quick and efficient. It is very user-friendly. The only negative to the overall rating was due to textbook amounts that were added automatically for 2013 even though I did not include them. I was audited and had to pay in. I saw this year that it specifically asked about textbooks. Hopefully there will be no audit this year.

Difficult if you have foreign income. I ticked the box saying I had foreign income but the appropriate slip did not come up automatically. I had to go to Help and then to forms to bring up the correct slip. It should have come up automatically since I had indicated I had foreign income. Had I not been aware of it, I could have missed inputting it.

To split donations between husband and wife only works if you use the override. Using the override means you can't netfile. This was the first time I needed to split up the donations but it was a nuisance not to be able to use netfile.
I've been using this program and its predecessor since it first came out.

almost love it.
The medical deductions section needs improvement.the optimizing option did not work as claimed.Had to choose which claimant would be most beneficial for refund.This did not occur to me until after filing of course.Now have to make corrections.
