Medical Expense Input
It can't be too difficult to add an import function from a word table or spreadsheet for medical expenses. Yes, you can use Quicken and QuickBooks and a more expensive version of QuickTax but how many have that much time & money to use & buy those products. Entering med expenses is really tedious specially when you can do it during the year.

TurboTax 2013 and T1135
TurboxTax 2013 does NOT handle the new T1135 form very well.
If you have more than a couple of stocks for non-resident companies, you need to use the CUST worksheet form. This is VERY clumsy. TurboTax should fix this ASAP.
Other than TurboxTax's poor handling of the T1135 form, TurboxTax is pretty good albeit a little expensive.

Makes Filing Tax Returns a Little Less Painful
This is my fourth year using Turbo Tax and it has made filing tax returns for our family a little easier. Gone are the days of calculator, booklets and pages of forms. All of the calculations are done automatically and you don't have to hunt for where to put amounts.

Very straightforward questions - finished my tax return in 30 minutes.
Some learning curve if you want to do things manually - but easier than doing taxes by hand since all of the help functions are at your fingertips.

Filing for a deceased person
I have used Turbo Tax for years and have always found it perfect....simple to use, easy instructions to follow....everything you could ask for.
This year, however, I have unfortunately had to file two returns for persons deceased in 2013. The first was a single person so worked rather easily, except for the fact that you say they are deceased, give the date of death, and the program keeps "talking" to you as if the person is alive. The second return applied to a married person and was very confusing at first because there was nothing there to describe the deceased person...I had to say he was single at the end of the year to get the program to work the info properly.
This is something that could be adjusted in the program!
Other than that.....PERFECT! See you next year!

Works Well with a couple of glitches
TurboTax works well, and I have used it for quite a few years. This year there were a couple of glitches:
1. I use Windows 7. When I click on a link (Netfile Terms and Conditions, Rate TurboTax) I get a popup that says "The action cannot be completed because the other program is busy." If I click on "Switch programs", the Windows menu opens. Eventually the IE icon appears on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, and if I click on it the IE browser opens. Sometimes the popup is still there when I'm done, and I have to click on "Switch programs" again. This could be improved for next year.
2. My son filed for the first time this year. He was told early on in the process that he was not eligible to Netfile, but then the program kept prompting him to netfile his return. We printed and mailed his return, but the program should be consistent so we know for sure what we can and can't do.
3. In the charitable donations window, if you type the name of the organization you donated to, sometimes you get an error because you typed too many characters. Next year, make the field the correct size.
Other than that, it works well. You get lots of information if you have questions and can go back and fix things if you realized you've made a mistake. You have to enter the correct information in your personal tax profile at the beginning, and then it all works.

Makes Tax Easy
I always find taxes difficult but the software makes it easier. The only area where they need to improve is the help sections. The same questions must come up year after year but often their is sparse info for some of the more confusing areas. Otherwise, I use it every year and will continue to buy it.

Satisfied Long Time User
With EasyStep it is almost foolproof to
use the software and if you use it from year to year, it carries forward information that is sometimes necessary to have for accurate completion of your return to maximize your tax savings.

TurboTax
I have been using this program for years since before it changed from QuickTax to TurboTax. So I am a relatively experienced user. I find it quite easy to plug in all the info but I have little or no experience of other tax programs so my opinion doesn't count for much.

Why no Mac version?
This continues to be a very useful product, which saves me from having to learn about applicable tax credits, from doing my own calculations, and from filling out forms by hand. I use it every year. Note that I won't do my taxes online, so please continue to put out this product. I do have two requests:
One: please put out a Mac version. I can't understand why you've never done this. As soon as there is a decent piece of Mac-based Canadian tax software I will move to that.
Two: there are far too many ads this year. There are many screens to click through and lots to read, and it is irritating to constantly have to skim and discard ads.

Good Tax Program
I have been using Turbo Tax and its predecessor (Quick Tax) for many years. It is a good program, relatively easy to use and convenient. It is not without flaws though as there are several dead ends in the program which basically leave you wondering what to do next or whether what you thought you just did actually happened. For instance when you Netfile your return it is not clear that it actually happened and you are left wondering.

Good value
Navigation, especially going back to change something should be easier. Maybe a step number bar where you could go back to any specific point. The way it is now is kinda nerdy. After you went back to change something going back forward to where you left off involves some annoying step by step repetition. No easy way to advance.
Also, review, instead of optimizing separate items, could make a tax summary table alongside the table of inputs you have control of - play yourself to get the target bottom line, or let the individual "optimizers" guide you.

Needs some improvement
Don't like the Turbo Tax Help Centre right hand view when Netfiling - it is not necessary & adds clutter to the screen.
Don't like that there is no CD Mac version (don't want online filing)
Should invest in a Mac home computer version as many of us have switched to Mac from PC & I know there is an online version but none of us want that - we want our home version

problem solving
Problems I encountered
1- program will not allow printing the detailed tax sheet
2- a dependant error occurred and could not be corrected even with phone help from turbo tax
3- there is no screen to enter infirm dependent and tuition transfer amounts until the review at end.
Never had these problems with previous versions.

Cool it on the Up Sells...
I have been using this product for years. (Quick Tax) OMG! Quit with the constant upsells. The Tax Process is painful enough with the constant clicking of "NO" to up sells. How about a Apple/Mac CD version for next year?

Helpful Software
Don't have a basis for comparison with other products as I have used only Intuit products. Only ran into one issue but managed to figure out how to remove a check box that I had inadvertently checked and it did not apply. Also, it would have been nice if there had been some explanation as to why we were ineligible to claim a particular deduction - wasted time trying to find out where the amount was being entered and why it wasn't showing up where it was supposed to.

When finishing, many screens ask you to save, when I already had. This should be removed. Once you have saved, you should not be asked again to save the file, unless there have been changes.

USER FRIENDLINESS
For the first time I did my own taxes and I am so glad that I chose to use Turbo Tax because it made the process so much easier for me. I went through the whole process step by step, guided by the software and it couldn't get any easier than that. The NETFILE submission option is just the best and it is so good that TurboTax gives that option

Good but Improvable.
This software is very user friendly and it's great that calculations are done for you. I strongly recommend that it be improved by adding an icon that would return you to the same place you left in Review and Netfile when you are in Forms. Presently when you return, you have to start all aver again.

Good Software
I've tried other software and this is still the best one to use. I wish they will develop a software for mac like the one in windows. I know they have the one for mac that is part of their online but it only 2 returns. I need the one with 7 returns. Also hopefully they can fix the problem with epost not able to download the returns. But for ease of use and easy to understand I still recommend this and will keep using it in the future.

description required for coupled returns
I hit the same snag every year. When filling out rental income and farming income forms, the transfer of information to the second return seems to be hit and miss. I end up copying info from one form to another and editing the business number. I have looked for a description of how this should be done, but one does not exist in the help menu.
