Gets better every year
I've been using TurboTax adn its predecessors, QuickTax and CanTax fro many years. I use the forms method. I find it pretty simple to navigate but some of the less used forms are always a bit of a challenge to find. One complaint that has caused me trouble in the past that is still there is that the software assumes that you will max your RRSP contributions and fills in the calculated value. We are now retired although my wife works part time and gets a T4 slip for a few thousand dollars, so she could still contribute but chooses not to. I have to zero out that value and if I forget to do it we are in potential trouble.

update
when it says Click Check Update on this page, it needs to have a Check Update on that page or tell you where to look, it took me over half an hour to find it on the Help at the top of a completely different page, was quite frustrating.

Turbo Tax Standard
Overall this program is excellant for the non-accountant doing their taxes. It is simple to use for the person who doesn't know their way around a tax return.
For the well versed it is more cumbursome than it used to be. When it comes to unusual or difficult issues its help could use a few upgrades.

Simple Review
I find that Turbo Tax will find errors that were not imputed anywhere in the slips or receipts and cannot find where the amount was garnered from.
Puzzling to say the least also the question "is the first return you've net filed" comes as an error...why?
The font type is a little much to be able to read as it is blue on white. Change it please to black on white.

Not as good as earlier
I've been using TurboTax since it was CanTax, for a great many years. It used to be simple to use, produced accurate returns, and values were easy to override if the program messed an entry up. This is no longer the case. I do my family's returns, and on 2 of them, there was an item that should have gone into Other Income, with a manual description. The program kept putting it as self-employment income, and it was very difficult to override this. It kept counting it twice and reducing the refund, then telling me I couldn't netfile. I fiddled with it until it showed the correct amount and was OK with netfile, but I have no idea of what I did to finally get it to work. That should not be necessary. I also don't like the argument I get from the program about length and format in descriptive text fields, like addresses. It won't let you leave the field blank either. You should be able to type in any address of any length with any needed characters, the same for a place or company name. Or be able to leave it blank if unimportant.

Great Product - Significantly Improved
The 2013 version of Turbotax is a significant improvement from the 2012 version. One of the things lacking is an easy to go to references of line numbers as you go through the EasyStep Wizard.

Great Product but..
I have used this product yearly and enjoy the ease of using it except for one thing. Every year I struggle to determine where to enter my wife's contribution to the Saskatchewan Pension Plan. It would be so much easier if a screen could come up which would allow me to enter this information rather than having to hunt for the place to put it.

Easy to do yourself
I use the easy steps even though I have done my taxes for the past several years. Easy to follow and I go through the review a couple of times paying attention to the tax saving tips when I can use them.

Still good, though not the best version in 2013
I've been using TurboTax for years, it's pretty easy to use and I can be done all my taxes in about an hour. This year, 2013, seemed a bit buggier than most; it guided me nicer than previous year, but seemed to repeat itself and nagged WAY more to buy other software. Also this strange interest question popped up at the end, and in the help pages attached several people were complaining about it. Hopefully 2014 will get it right. That's my only complaint really; still finished the taxes quickly, on-time, and it's pretty easy. Still love the software and will buy again next year!

Great overall
This is a very simple and easy to use software . The only issue I had was with an RRSP entry due to a HBP Repayment issue , but I was able to solve it on my own.
If you have a few family member that do their taxes on pc , invest in this product and pass it around.

Filing taxes is easy
With all of the tax info and slips on hand, all you have to do is enter the figures. My only criticism is that it only supports Internet Explorer (FireFox is my preferred browser).

Helpful, easy to follow
Well thought out with numpties in mind. It wuld be helpful if any previous year's Turbo Tax Forms & Slips could be highlighted to ensure that nothing is missed, and to have an automatic Check For Updates "warning" if the system detects that it is needed, and automatically carries out that process, saving all entries ready for eventual netfiling.

Solid Product
Well made program with lots of helpful hints inside.
There seems to be a bit too much "advertisements" of their other products throughout the "interview", but all in all the program still does an amazing job helping you get your taxes done.
My only other criticism is that they need to expand a bit on the medical deductions and the dependants portion of the program because that whole area of the tax laws is pretty murky and sometimes it is difficult to know what to enter.

MADE FILING EASY
Very easy to use dispensed with my calculator.
Would be nice though that when there is no tax
required or no refund that zeros are inserted in
the appropriate spaces rather than leaving them
blank/empty.
Bottom line, will use TTS again next year.

Got the job done

Ease a little misleading.
Although the program states that you should tick off the box if you are not sure and you can change it later, making changes does not correct all the inputs and the program does not return you to all the affected boxes, so that corrections can be made. This all results in inappropriate warnings and even error messages. I actually had to delete the file and start over with the proper responses to get a good result.
Overall however, I believe that, this is still the best and easiest tax software available.
