Simple and Clear
The Standard Turbo Tax package has once again given me a very easy way to prepare and submit my Annual Income Tax return. I have always found it simplifies the process with clear steps and opportunities to review as many times as needed.
We need to do it every year - why not with a very accessible product!

saved time and money
can do 2 returns in less than the time to do one return by hand. Guides you to maximize tax credits to increase your tax return or lowers the tax payment especially if filing for 2 (self and spouse).

Good except for one thing
This was a good piece of software to buy, the only hard part of the software was around the public transit tax credit. Metrolinx provides a confusing document to everyone who uses public transit in the GTA and it would be helpful to have an easy form to input directly from Mextrlinx rather than trying to figure out the confusing forms myself.

Tax return made simple
Advice - help user understand to continue through review stage and make refund window more noticeable. I got stuck at the form window that showed I owed money instead of showing I had a refund.

Inexpensive and easy
I complete basic returns for myself and a couple of my children and it takes a minimum amount of time and is accurate. I really like the fact that Turbo tax points out errors and I can go back and correct the error. the only thing that keeps it from being perfect is that I find it difficult to change information that has been carried forward from pervious years; for instance, one daughter had self-employment income in a previous year and now it keeps identifying her as self employed in that province, even if we click no self-employment in the interview.

Excellent program but I keep all medical expenses and charities on Excel or other spreadsheet and would like to be able to transfer to Turbotax without having to reenter every year.

This was hard
This was our first time using it and we found it quite hard to navigate. It seemed to skip whole sections and answers were no where to be found. The live support was extremely helpful, and without them, my laptop would be busted.

Decent, Strange in Places
TurboTax has been good for many years now. It still has a few strange features, for example it will always ask me if I want to apply for the GST credit even though my income and our family income is too high. Shouldn't it know better than I do? Google searches made it clear that there is some variation in the threshold based on Province of residence but still, when the income is above the limit for any location...why does it ask?

Pension Splitting
Found this section very confusing, it refers to form and worksheets that I couldn't find in TurboTax. Also had to keep closing my tax form or my wife so that the required info could be retrieved. If Pension Spiltting is chosen the software should figure out the best option for you by having both tax form open and doing the work for you.

Don't stray from success

Excellent, but move the help centre
I have been using Turbotax since it was Quicktax, and it has never let me down. The questions are intuitive, and it catches errors I might make and any considerations I may have overlooked. It's great! I just have one complaint - the Turbotax Help Centre. Why won't it get out of the way? Every year I open the software and there it is, taking up half of the screen. I don't use it, so I'd like to minimize or turn it off entirely. But I have yet to find a way to do so. I'd love it even more if I had the entire screen at my disposal.

Print & File is better last year
I never used and would never willingly use Netfile After the hacking issues the government had. You updated your Print & File section to create confusion and get people to unwillingly click on the NetFile option and follow the instructions for setup.
But for those who don't want to NetFile, you rendered the Print & File super annoying, confusing and frustrating because the sequence keeps bringing the user back to the page where it shows the 3 options:
Name of user
I don't want to use Netfile
Dine with filing
Someone who is not apt with computer would have gone even more nuts than I did.
DO NOT MAKE AN ENDLESS LOOP ALGORITHM FOR PRINT & FILE SECTION ANYMORE.

Generation friendly
I bought Turbo Tax to get my new adult children to do their own taxes. It is a new learning experience for me as I am used to paper forms. For my children they would never use paper to do income tax so I had to use a tax prep program. We have used Turbo Tax for 4 years now and I use forms method on Turbo Tax while my children use easy step. My son went to a tax prep company once and was inspired by the cost to learn to do it himself and Turbo Tax made it easy for him.
