Great Purchase

helps a lot when no program errors
the program made and error in calculations but I was able to contact help center for live chat and was able to resolve the problem by remote help which helped a lot. Other than that I am very satisfied with product and will continue to use,

product limitations
Used Turbo, previously Quick, Tax for a number of years - no problem installing the disk or making my way around the forms.
The online versions for both Mac and PC only offer the step by step method which may be good for some beginner users, although it tends to be cumbersome and more importantly doesn't allow the user to see and feel that they are actually filling out tax forms. The forms method should be made available online.
Mac users are particularly hooped because a disk version is not available. So they are limited to using the step method and paying for each return.
Luckily I have an old PC that I use solely for Turbo Taxing my families returns for the price of one standard disk.
This product is designed for PC users with little regard for Mac users.

Too much advertising
Very simple to use, easy walk through especially if you have used the program before but WAY, WAY, WAY too much advertising this year. It seemed like every step asked you to spend more money and upgrade the program again and again.

Slight hiccup
I like the software but had a bit of issue doing the return for my 15 year old daughter. All of the school options assumed she was in post secondary school and would have deductions for books and tuition etc. She is only in high school and none of those apply, so having that as an option would have made it simpler. Otherwise it was good.

Long Time User
Started using Quick Tax before net filing was allowed. Took part in the Revenue Canada trial for net filing because they had noted my use of Quick Tax. While there are now cheaper options out there, after 15+ years I stick with (now) Turbo Tax because of familiarity and trust. The tax summary and optimization devices are very helpful. On line support is very good. It also *looks* like the tax package which initially was (stupidly) comforting. It might be possible to do better, I'm sure it's possible to do worse - like using the real forms.

Good product
Quite easy to use for someone like me, who knows next to nothing about taxes and finance. Appears very comprehensive on the calculation side; however, I am somewhat put off by the numerous typos and grammatical errors in the text portions. This makes me a little suspicious of the attention to detail that has been put into the programming of this product. Intuit needs to spend a few dollars and hire a decent copy editor to review the finished product before it's sent out the door. Otherwise, this is a useful product.

Liked simpler net filing process this year. Still confusion why RC381 form opens for CPP overpayment when it should only be T2204. Also the info in the repopulated boxes did not make sense considering do not live or work in PQ. A few people mentioned this via online forum but no one from Intuit responded to those questions. Find Intuit responses to these concerns are slow....for example RRSP deduction room question now asked on RRSP receipt entry panel took 2 or 3 years to implement.

Cheaper elsewhere
I find it troublesome that the software can be purchased for much less from retailers rather than directly from Turbo Tax. I will not be purchase directly from Turbo Tax again.

Good value
Quite easy to use overall. The Netfile option was very easy and straight forward this year. Saved an extra $130 because the software remembered that I had unused expenses from a previous year to carry forward.

Happy Tax Filing
I have used Turbo Tax since 2007, before it was Turbo Tax. (when it was called Quick Tax) I like that it is easy to use and makes tax filing so quick. All those years of paper returns and all the checking and double checking addition and subtraction made it very time consuming. Now with the questions at the start, I feel confident that I will not miss anything because of changes to the Tax laws each year. The program does it for you. I am a fan of Turbo Tax.

pretty good
some of the questions relate to situations that are pretty uncommon, and because of this, the questions aren't necessarily that easy to understand
had to manually enter a calculated amount for portion of donations eligible for tax credit, so that no automatic provincial tax credits would be wasted
so I think it's actually easier to enter by form and tax slip, even though the program indicates otherwise
otherwise, quite easy to use

Great Product: Difficult to get!
Every year I seem to go through the same difficult dance to get your product. I have been using TurboTax for years (At least 6-7). I usually sign up at the end of doing my and the wife's taxes and then wait to go through a song and dance to get in the new year.
What Gives???
I will not pay up front again as I'm sure I have a couple of times over the year and had to pay again come tax time.
Please make it easier to get our next year's copy!!

Easier than the competition
Had trouble switching over to my spouses return. Whenever I checked forms, it always showed mine and I couldn't get my wife's up to see what it had done on hers. I also found it a little cumbersome to go back to specific pages without having to scroll through many screens. Perhaps that was my inexperience as a first-time user.

RRSP Deduction Limit
I transfer information from one year to the next. Why, when I am single and in my mid-seventies, does Turbo Tax show that I have an RRSP contribution available? I do have a $2,000 over-contribution, but I do not think I am able to contribute any longer, and wonder why Turbo Tax indicates that I do.

Won't use anything else
I've been using tax prep software since my 386DX days. When I started, it was QuickTax, now it's TurboTax. I've tried a few others over the years, but kept coming back - I find TurboTax to be the easiest, most straightforward software around (although the constant upsell attempts are annoying - hence the 4 star rating).
