Versatile

Little hard to follow
I found the software seems to jump around a lot (I never knew which section I was in). The alerts were very helpful to get where I needed to be.

We have foreign pension to declare and it is difficult to follow the instructions. I had a deduction for a partial amount for line 256. It was not accepted when I manually entered it and I only noted it when I was done filing and printed the return. the income tax paid to the foreign country also did not show on the prescribed line.

Disliked all the ads to buy further items/services from Turbo Tax scattered throughout the program which tended to distract from the program. Advertise at the beginning or end but not throughout the process.

problem with optimizer
When it came to deciding whether my wife or I should claim our medical expenses for 2013, the optimizer clearly did not work. I'm not sure what peculiar combination of income and deductions made this happen. Be sure to watch the Refund/Payable box in the top right corner! (The optimizer for claiming charitable donations had no problem in coming up with the best choice.)

My normal experience with Turbo is quite good, This year I qualified to receive the family caregiver amount which was a new deduction. Had a terrible time attempting to post and on the what is new format this exemption wasn't listed and spent days attempting to down load. When I finally got the program found out that my wife's income did not allow me a deduction for the care I give her.

Excellent product
This program has changed my demeener about income tax filing. I had used electronic filing some years ago but recall it was awkward and confusing as the forms had to be completed also. It is certainly a huge step in the proper direction even though my return is very basic it was a delight to complete.

This version handles Netfile better than in the past. Otherwise it's the same old product with less help and fewer hints, continuing a trend of many years. That said, it's reasonably easy to navigate and very stable,

still needs some work
still has this tendancy to open all sheets in a reduced and stacked way when I just want it to open single page full screen.
Some of the help messages are obtuse and difficult to follow.
Help and warnings are more annoying than helpful in many cases.
Once you figure out its quirks and learn to live with them it is ok. New metod of e filing is a breeze compared to the past.

struggle with charitable entry
I had a struggle to get the program to access the Charitable Donations entry screen from forms entry on more than one return. Double click did not work on schedule 1 and I had to find the charitable form and get the entry window to come up. I recall this happened last year as well. Not intuitive.

Charitable Donations?
While this software is generally good, it consistently tries to push my chartiable donations into the future. Bad choice; I always have to slap the software and tell it no, I do not want to transfer to my wife (who has minimal income) or defer to another year. It does take the advice, but it is a bit of a pain. As significant charitable giving is part of my lifestyle, the only intelligent thing to do is to claim it now, and get a decent tax refund each year.
I suspect the software tries the silly thngs it does to avoid an audit, but that's no big deal when everything is legit anyway -- just send in the receipts when they ask, and after the bureaucracy does its thing they agree and send the receipts back.
Otherwise, the program is generally useful.

Very Reassuring
Completing the TurboTax EasyStep, I felt became increasingly confident that that the filings I did were accurate, complete and covered every possibility of tax savings in my favour.
I just wish the printing on the EasyStep pages was in a larger font. I don't understand why TurboTax uses such fine print. It can be very tiring to squint at it for some time.

Qucik and Easy
I have been using this product for 5 years now and it has never been a let down especially since our tax returns are so basic. Good value for what you get. I look forward to filing next year...hopefully I'll have a refund tho :)
