Not as good as it used to be.
Turbo Tax Standard is inundated with advertisments. Like an American TV Chanel. All are unnecessary and devalue the product offering.

problems with CD purchase
I have used the product for about 5 years, it is pretty easy except this year the CD had some bug, so I had to call for support. Had to uninstall the CD version and reinstall online version that support emailed to me. Support was great but it was just time consuming to get it filed. I will use online version going forward I think.

1. pension optimization should include a note that if used, "tax deducted" will partially be transferred to spouse.
2. there should be a third option in "print forms" which would be something to the effect of "PRINT FORMS WITH MY ENTRIES". currently I just printed two massive 'federal forms' because I wasn't sure which to choose from the 'selected/other choice' option. this was a huge waste of paper and ink...
3. I did call with a question and when I asked the intuit person to repeat his name as it was not clear, he did not...

A Quality Tax Tool
I am a mathematician, but I use Turbo Tax every year to be sure I report everything, claim all the deductions to which I am entitled, and don't make any silly arithmetic mistakes. I find the program easy to use, comprehensive, and very easy to follow/understand. I plan to use Turbo Tax next year and thereafter.

Not bad...
I use this every year, it's a good program (better than a pencil and calculator). I only wish that there were more options to optimize contributions between spouses...perhaps that's the CRA's fault, but I remember more of that from previous years.

Northern Residents Deduction
I was a little surprised that the software did not prompt for the Northern Residents Deduction. Although limited to certain areas, it's a significant deduction.

Saving
Really great overall. Just a couple of things that could be improved.....I would have liked to have known things that I ended up having to Google. For example, if you know you don't qualify for a specific tax credit, do you have to bother filling out the info (e.g. I pay property taxes, but earn too much to qualify for the energy and property tax credit so do I have to check off the box that says I paid property taxes?).
Also, at the bottom on every page where it says back or continue, there should also be a save then continue box. My computer froze mid return and I had not saved it so I had to start over. Your program does not suggest saving until the end (not helpful).

Too many reviews. There are cases where the deductions do not help lower the taxable income, but the tax program just seems to take over and then one can not change the the numbers and the override is very difficult to work with. AS FOR PAYMENT do not brow beat your clients , just tell them to mail a cheque or go to the bank and pay up. RRRR.

Confusing Ending
I have used QuickTax/TurboTax for years. I am very happy with the easy of use of the product. However, 2013 version is confusing at the Netfile step. I successfully filed (I think), I received a confirmation from CRA but the get ready to file page keeps coming up.

OK
As an accoutant, I can make my way through pretty easily. Most frustrating part is that the program will not work unless computer is set to medium screen resolution. this means logging out, and back in to my computer whenever I want to work on my taxes. This problem has existed for a number of years, and I wish they'd really fix it...

I like the software, but didn't like upgrading to IE8, I use Mozilla Firefox exclusively, and am disappointed that it won't run in Firefox., come on TurboTax !!

Godd, but definitely has a few problems
As long as you don't have anything too exotic, it's OK. Stray a bit off the beaten path, however, and you'll find a place or two where the program simply doesn't work like the help says it will!

I still find the Basic is the best
Even with rental income, medical costs, travel and moving costs, I find the basic program works just fine for my family returns.
A little too many offers to upgrade and provide audit protection - needs more "no thank you options" up front.
When opening/starting the list shows the previous year's files - make sure you open up the current one, or you'll be bouncing around in last year's taxes.
Other than that, will continue to use this into the future.

TurboTax eases the pain
This time of year is usually stressful as each year tax returns seem to become more and more complicated. It is great to have a program like TurboTax to ease one through all the tax hoops. I recommend it for any, first timer and experienced users.

Taxes Made Easy

Very Good Value
I have been using this for more than 5 years. It is improved every year in terms of ease of use and this year, it is much improved in its Netfile automation! There is no longer a need to go to the CRA website and choose the tax file to send - this is now automatically done!
