Good But
Made filing taxes for both of us easy. One problem, both last year and this year, when it was reviewing it claimed I had an error and needed info for medical deductions I entered, when I never entered any either year.

Good product
I have been using Turbo Tax for so many years. It use to be Quick Tax many years ago. This year, Turbo Tax was not clear regarding how to Netfile the result. It looks like Turbo Tax will do it by themselves. I hope I was right.
Before, I had to do Net File myself.
Another problem is when registering to Intuit. I filled up the form, however, I can not write down the province(Ontario). It says not applicable. When you press that space, so many municipalities will appear, not Canadian provinces. I was not able to register my name.

The software is easy to use. My only complaint is I can buy the program from a retailer each year cheaper than I can buy the program directly from Intuit online. This does not make any sense to me. Intuit should be offering automatic discounts for returning customers.

Getting easier every year

The Medical Expenses Worksheet should allow us to enter the receipts into this area and it transpose to the 'bov area as opposed to vice cersa. The Med exps 'box area' is cumbersome and nit condusive to copying common or same expenses plus its a nuisance if you miss one. It should be so much easier than a cut and paste model. very annoying + if you cut and paste the date fields they seem to change back to a different dd format (in this years version at least).

Weird Glitch on Netfile
Page comes up to reconcile totai interest paid - the total included dividends from foreign sources. The notice says the items must add up to the total - well they do not. However, I "continued" and was able to file. Weird glitch!

Ease of Use
This was better to use than last year, however, being a student, it would have been nice to view if I had any unused tuition amounts left over. I could not locate my Notice of Assessment. It just would have been easier to have that carried over from my previous filing to view. Other than that, it was great!

Birthdate sequence
When using Netfile, Turbo Tax prompts you to write down your Social insurance number and birthdate.
The prompt for birthdate is DD/MM/YYYY
The CRA website asks for the birthdate in a different order. This may be an avenue for mistakes, such as if your birthdate is 04/03/21014, the 04/03 could be reversed.

Makes it easier
It certainly makes the complicated tax returns of today much easier. This year I had a couple of very complicated returns to do, and there was one that the program did not want to handle correctly. I called in and after speaking with the support staff, I found that after a couple of weeks they had corrected the problem. Very helpful.

After 15 years still room for improvement
Having used Turbo Tax/Quick Tax since 1996 I am still frustrated by the tedious entry of medical expense claims. How about a form that would allow some copying and pasting so that, for example, receipts from a certain pharmacy and for a certain patient could be copied and only the amount and/or date changed.

Suggestions to improve very good product
Excellent product I've used for years. Suggestions to improve would be as follows
With many free versions cropping up price needs to come down. Perhaps a standard home owner version with minor investments options and forms. Perhaps this plus inexpensive upgrade to more compex version might be a suggestion
For Ontario users there should be a warning that OntBen rental and homeowners propertry tax should have come up automatically. I had to go looking for it and makes me wonder did I miss any others out there.

Lesser of all evils
I guess my real beef is with the federal/provincial tax system. I wish it was more transparent and less complicated.
Turbo Tax does a reasonable job of helping me navigate through the maze (although employment expenses area leaves something to be desired).

I found two problems with this product. The Federal transfer of tuition fees to a parent or grandparent screen shows both the amount to transfer and whether it should be transferred to a parent or grandparent or spouse. The provincial transfer screen only asks for the amount to transfer and states who you transferred the federal amount to, then defaults to a transfer to spouse.
