What it says on the tin
I've been using Turbo Tax and its predecessor for over 15 years. It's quick and easy to use, and files taxes online in a short time. Filed taxes for myself and spouse in under an hour all in. Now we just have to wait for our refunds!

So Easy
This is my third year using Turbo Tax and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to do their own taxes but thinks they can't, especially if their situation is fairly straightforward. Even if it isn't, the step-by-step format makes it easy to enter everything correctly and if there are questions, the help/online forum has many answers. I especially liked it for doing my kids' returns; calculating transfers of tuition amounts was a breeze. Once their returns were done, one click transferred the amounts into our return. One problem here, though: I couldn't claim one child's amount on one spouse's return and the other child's on the other. Otherwise, Turbo Tax offers great value and peace of mind for those who want to do it themselves.

The Easy Step method tends to be a bit confusing. You Ask a whole bunch of questions up front but do not offer a good explanation. I sure would like to see more places where Cut, Copy and Paste can be used.

Fairly straighforward to use
TurboTax provides you with useful tips & warnings to ensure the right refund. What I would like to see is more interactivity of possible options on the choices provided for tax savings.

Please Stop the Interruptions
Am I the only one who, after using Quicktax for years, finds TurboTax annoying (with its multiple offers to "upgrade"--to a more expensive version, for a live on-line expert review, and for audit defense, to name some examples)? I find doing my taxes stressful enough without annoying interruptions feeding (or preying on?) my insecurities! I am considering switching next year as a result.

Great Program
Turbo Tax makes completing and filing tax returns SO SIMPLE. Follow the Easy Steps and you can't go wrong. It also has some great optimizers within the program so you get the best out of your return.

Good but not great
I like the product year over year, however I find entering medical deductions a bit confusing as it seems to change every year.
For the uninitiated navigation is good but for those of us that have used the product better short cuts would be nice.

Good but needs more info in places
I have used Turbo Tax for 3 years now and will continue to use Turbo Tax. This is the first year where I had to claim rental property income. There were many open fields presented within this form and not much help and guidance to explain to the common user what most of these fields meant. I had to use Google to understand them.
Otherwise, it is an excellent program for those who have normal expenses. I recommend Turbo Tax for all general users.

easy
Love that you don't need a filing number anymore--so much easier and quicker!!!! Keep on making these small and convenient improvements I had purchased U-File but found it really difficult to use. I like the running totals just under the Turbo Tax header!!

Three problems
I found TurboTax quite easy to use, with three exceptions:
1. When I tried to NETFILE it warned about some interest income, which it turns out was related to boxes 14 and 15 on a T5. I couldn't see anything wrong, so just filed anyways.
2. I had some investment expenses, amounts charged to manage some funds. I checked the box to include that, but TurboTax only offered interest expenses on borrowed investment money. Finally at the review stage I was able to find a place enter my expenses.
3. I was supposed to prepare a special form, T1135, which I found in the Forms. However TurboTax was not very clear about how to use and submit forms. The form did get submitted, I think, as it was in the PDF I saved. Another problem: it filled in a Yes/No checkbox for me, that was not part of the built-in form, and it checked No, where the answer should have been Yes. I hope it's ok.

More stepthroughs please
Generally good. Couple of improvements:
1. Need some stepthroughs, especially for T1135 and the spousal income questions. The CRA wording is very convoluted. Converting these to simple questions series would help.
2. A simple question about having/not having small or personal business is needed. I had a couple of small contracts years ago and have none now. But every year, a whole series of blank forms continue to appear. I have not found how to stop this. It's not worth my time to search the option for this as the only thing that happens is that there are some extra pages in the pdf which I just do not print out.

In all its a great value if you are aware of some of the available credits. On the first round I missed claiming northern residency deductions for example.

Excellent Product
Turbo Tax is an excellent product. In addition, their telephone product support is also excellent. However, the customer has to endeavour to persevere in finding the telephone number for their product support.

top income tax program
I have used many other tax programs and although they give me the right calculations, they are very cumbersome to maneuver around in, especially if you want to go out of order to the program. Turbo tax is easy to use and maneuver around in, switching from form view to easy step and summary. This year I had a few new situations and between the easy step interview and help menu, I managed to understand and file them accurately. You will not be disappointed with this product.

FILING OPTIONS
Would like to see "file later" rather than directly connecting to CRA; as sometimes we like to enter all data then check the entries with a printed copy prior to net filing the return. There is no option like this available on the screen. You must Net File, for print return to file as paper.

Too many forms
I've used Turbo Tax for the past 4 years and every year I get very annoyed with all the unnecessary forms that are generated when I print off the return. This year there was a prompt asking me if I wanted to print off only the required forms so I figured the problem had been fixed. For a straight forward retirement income, OASP and CPP it printed off 16 pages-come on now!! I know for a fact that only 9 of those pages were required for filing.

Easy to use
Several years ago I used to do my own taxes with a very much older version tax computer program. This year, TurboTax walked me through all the appropriate areas and made recommendations for potential savings. I was impressed at how easy it was to enter the information. I will recommend TurboTax to my friends.

great value
Turbo Tax continues to be a great product. This year, the improved Netfile interface makes it better. Two areas for improvement would be:
a) optimization of pension transfer: I play with the transfer amount manually to find the value that maximizes the refund. Nice if TurboTax did the optimization on request.
b) tuition transfers: Nice if Turbo Tax could recognize a designated tuition transfer amount on my child's return and automatically transfer it on my return on request.

Confusion when Netfiling
The netfiling process did not calculate/assemble the interest information correctly so I had to manually enter information before it would accept the netfiling. The problem appeared to be not including the foreign interest from the t-slips in the interest comparison.

"Take me to" feature inconsistant
"Take me to" navigator does not use the same tittles as the Easy step page headings. This makes it useless to go directly to to a topic. Ie. the easy step section is tittled "Pension Splitting". the "take me to" navigator index lists it as "spilt pension" It should be listed alphabetically by the common name not the activity
