Don't be self employed
This product is great for simple returns but I was left in the dark on more complex issues.
Trying to enter some direct sales work I did over the summer was confusing and frustrating.
If simple is what you have this can work for you.

Moving expense section has a glitch!
Poor program that can hang up when you decide that you aren't claiming moving expenses. The way you have to get around that can end up not leading you to the path to transfer your student fees to a designate. Poor for a "Student" version of a tax program.

Not tailored for students
Student Section was unclear, it asked I have/had a student loan. So I checked it and it asked me about interest, I have an interest free student loan because I am still in school

e filing
not able to e file due to downloaded return was in 'notepad' not pdf file. It automatically to save/open in notepad which is not readable.

Maybe not the best for students...
I've loved using this software while working before I was a full-time student. This year I was frustrated with the return bar becuase initially it showed quite a high return, until I entered my tuition fees where it dropped drastically. The return bar should show an accurate number at all times, instead of causing confusion.

Buggy
I had phantom items showing up in the student tuition deduction section. They couldn't be deleted. On top of that, amounts were showing up in the student tuition summary that could not be deleted!! I kept getting "INTERNAL ERROR" and the support page was not even usable, it wouldn't send emails and half the time wouldn't show up. Also spotted two misspellings. Avoid!!!

Why pay to file taxes?
The software is relatively straight forward. However if you have a safety deposit box (SDB) which is a tax deduction (Carrying Charges), you have to upgrade to premium at a cost which defeats any tax saving of the SDB deduction. Further, why am I even doing (and paying for doing) a tax return? The Feds already have all the information. Other countries (i.e. Norway) it is all done automatically.

Great, when it works
I used Turbo Tax for three years now. The first two were fantastic cakewalks. This last year, there have been a number of errors that I cannot solve, and I cannot get any help until 2 business days. It is very frustrating.

TT does not calculate critical value
TT does not calculate the student's portion of the tuition tax credit, reports "zero", leaves student with "tax due", does not therefore calculate carry-forward or transfer amounts correctly. It allows the entire amount to be transferred to parent even though student's tax is greater than zero.

Complex Software
I am accountant and I can not work with this. It should be simple that evrey one could work it.
When I compare this software with other software in tax it is hard to work with it.

Carry Forward Online
Major screw up in carrying forward ( or not) 2011 return info. Change in file extension, but no built in conversion. Online is a mess, check out chat board for some indication of the extent of the problem.

Charged even though a student
I have used this service two previous years. This time was a nightmare as I had to keep going to Google Chrome to download my tax files as I was filing more than one from my computer. Could only download the first one and then ran into problems. I was also charged for my daughter's student account. Will not use again.

what a headache
I had a horrible time trying to file my return this year. The website was incredibly difficult! I would have to close the program and log in for every step, because the "continue" button was not functioning. That was not even the worst part! it would not let me do a NETFILE!! Incredibly troublesome, every step of the way... This was the first time I had problems with it.
